Effect of pollutants on river nile productivity between Helwan and Elkanater Elkhairia / تأثير الملوثات على انتاجية نهر النيل بين حلوان و القناطر الخيرية Nora Omar Elsayed Khalil ; Supervised Yousry M. Issa , Sabrein Harbi Mohamed , Hala Elshahat Ghannam - Cairo : Nora Omar Elsayed Khalil , 2017 - 115 P. : charts , facsimiles ; 25cm
Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Analytical Chemistry
Heavy metal contamination of water and fish is considered as a potential threat to the human health. The objective of the study is to evaluate the qualities of water and fish which are presented in the same environment by using pollution index (PI) for water. The effect of high level of heavy metals at different seasons (from autumn 2014 to summer 2015) in fish organs (muscle, gills) by using bioaccumulation factor (BAF), metal pollution index (MPI) and hazard index (HI) is illustrated. Heavy metals studied are Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu and Pb. The area under study is greater Cairo that extends for more than 50 km along River Nile sides. It is considered as the largest urban area in Africa and the middle east
