In this work reduced graphene oxide loaded with ruthenium nanoparticles, ruthenium oxide and perovskites were successfully prepared via green, fast, facile and energy efficient method to be used as supercapacitor electrodes and for hydrogen production. Ru/RGO and Ru-RuO2/RGO were successfully prepared without any reducing or hazardous materials. The resulted structure (Ru or mixture of Ru and RuO2) is controlled by controlling the pH of the precursor. Moreover, GO is used for the first time as powerful fuel for preparation of various perovskites without any calcination step. Both Ru-based perovskites and Fe-based perovskites with various A-sites are prepared using the present method. Fe-based perovskite are used as modifiers for carbon paste electrode for HER in acidic and basic solution. The specific capacitances of the resulted materials are improved by selecting the appropriate loading and electrolyte. Another modification is accomplished by modifying the electrolytes themselves through adding soluble redox systems. The addition of a soluble redox system to the electrolyte solution greatly improves the specific capacitance of the supercapacitors that represents a crucial route to increase the energy density of supercapacitors
