Biochemical Changes Induced by Some Carcinogenic and Anticarcinogenic Compounds in Rats / التغيرات البيوكيميائية الناتجة عن بعض المركبات المسببة و المضادة للسرطان فى الفئران Wafaa Sobhy Felfel Bebawy ; Supervised Hassan Abd El Halim Amer , Mohsen Ahmed Wasfy - Cairo : Wafaa Sobhy Felfel Bebawy , 2006 - 265P : ill ; 30cm
Thesis (PH.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty Of Veterinary Medicine - Department Of Biochemistry and Chemistry Of Nutrition
This study aimed to investigate the anticarcinogenic effect of yoghurt whey , garlic , ? - tocopherol / selenium and ? - carotene / vitamin C in rats treated with NDPhA and NETU compared with both - Ve and +Ve control ratsThe following parameters were determined : nitrite in urine and plasma , plasma MDA , triacylglycerols , total cholesterol , and HDL - cholesterol , hepatic microsomal MDA , proteins , glutathione S - transferase and superoxide dismutaseThe study revealed that the administration of the carcinogenic compounds induced significant changes in the above mentioned parametersAdditionally , significant changes were recorded due to both time factor and dietary supplementsAs a conclusion garlic followed by yoghurt whey supplementation succeeded in recording a remarkable antagonistic effect for the oxidative stress induced by the tested carcinogens
