This work has been carried out to investigate the effect of different redox initiation systems on the kinetic parameters , the morphological characteristics and the surface tension studies for the emulsion polymerization of vinyl acetate (VAc) and styrene (St) monomers in presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate as an anionic emulsifierThe rate of polymerization (RP) of VAc was found to be dependent on the initiator concentration to the powers 042 , 123 , 055 and 084 in presence of different redox initiation systems such as : potassium persulfate (KPS) / sodium bisulfite , KPS / acetone sodium bisulfite , KPS / methyl ethyl ketone sodium bisulfite and KPS / 2 - octanone sodium bisulfite , while the RP of St monomer was found to be dependent on the initiator concentration to the powers 057 , 068 , 107 and 093 in presence of the previous mentioned different redox initiation systems , respectivelyAlso the RP of VAc decreases with increasing the emulsifier concentration , while it increases in the emulsion polymerization of St monomerThe activation energies of these reactions were studiedIncreasing the organic chain length of the different sodium bisulfite adducts decreases the volume average diameter and increases the number of polymer particles per unit volume of water for some prepared poly (vinyl acetate) (PVAc) and polystyrene (PS) latex particlesThe surface tension values of PVAc latices are lower than those obtained for PS onesAlso the surface tension values of both PVAc and PS latices decrease with increasing both the initiator and the emulsifier concentrationsFinally , the prepared PVAc latex (50
