Summary, etc.	تهدف هذه الأطروحة إلى دراسة العلاقة بين الفاعلين الدوليين والمقاومة الشعبية من خلال التركيز على أنماط استراتيجيات المقاومة المختلفة ومدى فاعليتها مع التركيز على دور وأثر الفاعلين الدوليين عليها. كما سعت الأطروحة إلى بناء إطار نظري بنائي متكامل لدراسة الصراع والمقاومة. قد تمثلت المشكلة البحثية لهذه الأطروحة في دراسة دور الفاعلين الدوليين في الصراعات الداخلية في كل من الصين، وسريلانكا وتايلاند وميانمار والفلبين، وأثره على فاعلية أنماط المقاومة الشعبية المختلفة في تلك الدول. تمكنت الأطروحة من الإجابة على العديد من التساؤلات الخاصة بطبيعة حركات المقاومة، وتكوينها وخبرات تأسيسها، والأسس والأفكار الإيديولوجية التي قامت عليها وكذلك قيادتها. كما شرحت الأطروحة أنماط استراتيجيات حركات المقاومة المختلفة وكيف أثرت الفواعل الدولية المعنية على تلك الأنماط وعلى فاعليتها. وقد عكفت الأطروحة على اتباع كل من المنهج التاريخي والمنهج المقارن بالإضافة إلى استخدام اقتراب دراسة الحالة وتتبع العمليات وأداة تحليل المضمون. وقد تمكنت الأطروحة من بناء واستخدام مقياس لكل من فاعلية أنماط المقاومة المختلفة وأخر لقياس حدة الأنماط العنيفة منها. وأكدت الأطروحة أن بعض صور التدخل الدولي في الصراعات الداخلية عادة ما تدفع أحد أطراف الصراع أو جميعها إلى انتهاج العمل المسلح ضد الحكومة أو ضد بعضهم البعض. وأن الأنماط المسالمة كانت أكثر فاعلية في تحقيق أهداف المقاومة من نظيرتها العنيفة. كما توصلت الأطروحة إلى أن أغلب الفاعلين الدوليين القائمين بفعل التدخل في الحالات محل الدراسة كانوا غالباً من الدول القومية ذات السيادة أو من الفاعلين من دون الدول خاصة الجماعات الإرهابية. وأن تلك الدول كانت الدول الإقليمية المحورية في المنطقة الآسيوية وأن تواجد الدول الكبرى كان تواجداً تاريخياً قاصراً على فترة الاستعمار. وأخيراً توصلت الأطروحة إلى أن صور التدخل الأكثر فاعلية كانت الصور التي اتسمت بالحياد والشفافية والعلانية وأن التدخل الخارجي المتوازن الذي لا يؤدي إلى خلخلة توازن القوى يعد أحد العوامل الرئيسية المساعدة على زيادة فاعلية نمط المقاومة المتبع وكذلك يجعل التدخل مثمراً وذا أثر إيجابي على مجريات الصراع.

Summary, etc.	The aim of this dissertation is to study the relationship between international actors and popular resistance, the patterns of the various strategies of resistance, and how effective they are. This dissertation has managed to come up with a renovated constructivist theoretical framework that enabled the researcher to study the phenomena of both conflict and resistance from a constructivist lens. A very thorough dissection was applied on randomly but carefully selected set of resistance groups in five different countries of Asia namely Srilanka, China, Myanmar, Thailand and the Philippines. This was done after shedding the light on the historical background of all the ethnic conflicts witnessed in each case and how it impacted the dynamics of resistance. In order to answer the research questions raised in this dissertation about the different patterns of resistance, their effectiveness and role of international actors, the dissertation adopted a comparative historical methodology that relied on the case study approach, process tracing and discourse analysis. The dissertation concluded that most intervening international actors were mainly major regional Asian powers and non-state actors mainly terrorist groups, it also concluded that transparent and non-biased intervention that doesn’t imbalances the balance of power is usually more effective in resolving conflicts, it also concluded that peaceful and passive aggressive patterns of resistance were more effective than violent aggressive patterns in achieving their goals
