| Summary, etc. | Objective: To investigate the effect of Kinesiology taping, McConnell<br/>taping and open knee brace beside the routine physical therapy in treatment<br/>of Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS).<br/>Design: Pretest – Posttest Experimental group design.<br/>Intervention: Forty-eight patients (19 males, 29 Females) with unilateral<br/>PFPS randomly assigned equally into McConnell tape (MT) group,<br/>Kinesiology tape (KT) group, and Open knee brace group (KB). All patients<br/>received conventional physical therapy which included interferential<br/>therapy, patellar mobilization, quadriceps-strengthening exercise and<br/>stretching exercise for muscles around the knee.<br/>Outcome measurement: The patients were evaluated by electrogoniometer<br/>for knee flexion active range of motion (FAROM), Kujula questionnaire for<br/>functional activities and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for pain assessment.<br/>The evaluation was applied before, after 3 weeks and after 6 weeks of<br/>intervention.<br/>Results: There were no statistically significant difference among the three<br/>groups in VAS, Kujula score and FAROM after three weeks of treatment<br/>(p > 0.05). After six weeks of intervention, there were statistically<br/>significant improvements in VAS and in Kujula score for MT group (p <<br/>0.05).But, there was no statistically significant difference in FAROM among<br/>three groups. There were statistically significant improvements in VAS,<br/>Kujula score and FAROM after three weeks as well as after six weeks of<br/>intervention in all groups (p < 0.0001).<br/>Conclusion: Adding MT, KT or KB to conventional physical therapy were<br/>more effective in reducing patellofemoral pain, improving Kujula score and<br/>increase knee FAROM. McConnell tape was more effective in improving<br/>pain and Kujula score, but not for FAROM, than KTand KB. |

| Summary, etc. | الهدف: كانت الدراسة تهدف الى المقارنة بين تاثير الشريط اللاصق الماك كونيل والشريط اللاصق الكينيزيو والركبة الضاغطة المفتوحة بجانب برنامج العلاج الطبيعى فى علاج متلازمة الام الرضفة. التصميم: قبل الاختبار – بعد الاختبار دراسة تجرييبية التدخل:تم اجراء الدراسة على 48 مريض ( 19 رجل 29 سيدة )يعانون من متلازمة ألام الرضفة فى مفصل ركبة واحد ثم تم تقسيم المرضى عشوائيا الى ثلاثة مجموعات ، المجموعة الاولى تعالج بتطبيق الشريط اللاصق لماك كونيل والمجموعة الثانية تعالج بتطبيق الشريط اللاصق الكينيزيو والمجموعة الثالثة تعالج بارتداء الركبة الضاغطة المفتوحة بجانب برنامج العلاج الطبيعى فى صورة التيارات المتداخلة ،تحريك الرضفة ،تقوية العضلة الرباعية الامامية ،وتمرينات الاطالة للعضلات المحيطة بالركبة. تقييم النتائج: تم تقييم المرضى بجهاز مقياس الدرجات الرقمى لمعرفة مدى حركة ثنى الركبة بدون ألم، وإستبيان الكوجالا لمعرفة مدى تأثرالانشطة الوظيفية ومقياس الالم التناظرى لتقييم الالم وذلك قبل وبعد بداية العلاج بثلاثة أسابيع وعند نهاية العلاج بعد ستة أسابيع. النتائج:تبين انه لايوجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين الثلاثة مجموعات فى قياس الألم ومجموع نقاط إستبيان الكوجالا ومدى الحركة بعد ثلاثة اسابيع . بعد ستة أسابيع وجدت فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية فى قياس الألم واستبيان الكوجالا لمجموعة الشريط اللاصق الماك كونيل و لكن لم يوجد فرق ذات دلالة احصائية فى مدى الحركة للثلاثة مجموعات. وجدت فروق احصائية فى تحسن فى الألم واستبيان الكوجالا ومدى الحركة بعد ثلاثة اسابيع وبعد ستة اسابيع من التدخل فى كل المجموعات على حدى. الأستنتاج:اضافة الشريط اللاصق الماك كونيل ،والشريط اللاصق الكينيزيو ، والركبة الضاغطة المفتوحة الى برنامج العلاج الطبيعى كان له تاثير فى تقليل ألام الرضفة وتحسن الأنشطة الوظيفية وزيادة مدى الحركة ، مع أفضلية لمجموعه الشريط اللاصق الماك كونيل فى التقليل من مقدار الألم و تحسين الأنشطة الوظيفية |
