520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The incidence of liver function abnormalities, particularly elevated AST
levels, is observed to be common in COVID-19 patients, although typically not of a
severe nature. The etiology of liver injury can be attributed to various factors such
as direct viral hepatotoxicity, drug-induced liver injury (DILI), bystander effects
during a systemic viral infection, potential sepsis, or aggravation of underlying liver
disease. These factors should be considered when evaluating liver damage. Studies
conducted suggest that SARS-CoV-2 can specifically target the liver, cholangiocytes
via ACE2, which indicates the possibility of hepatobiliary injury. Regardless of the
specific mechanisms underlying hepatic injury in individuals with COVID-19, it
appears that activation of the immune-mediated pathway plays a crucial role
(Boettler et al, 2020).
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
