| Summary, etc. | Cancer is a major health problem that continues to be the leading cause of death globally. Recently several experts have claimed that phytochemicals derived from natural botanicals are a new treatment approach for a variety of cancer types. The aim of this study is to assess the anticancer activity of the ethanol extract of Nitraria retusa in vivo and in vitro. The results showed that the ethanol extract had significant cytotoxic activity against cancer cells line HepG2 while a slight and nonsignificant reduction in the viability of the normal cells through accumulating the cells in the G2/M phase by triggering the programmed cell death; apoptosis, through modulating the main apoptosis-related genes and proteins; p53, Bcl2 and Caspase3 |

| Summary, etc. | يعد السرطان مشكلة صحية كبيرة و لا يزال السبب الرئيسي للوفاه على مستوى العالم . لذلك أكد العديد من الخبراء مؤخرًا أن المواد الكيميائية المشتقة من النباتات الطبيعية هي نهج علاجي جديد للعديد لمحاربة العديد من أنواع السرطان. لذلك الهدف من هذه الدراسة هو الكشف عن دور بعض المتسخلصات النباتية في علاج الاورام و ذلك من خلال أستخدام مستخلص الكحول الإيثيلي لنبات الغرقد على نمو الخلايا السرطانية في سواء معملياً او داخل الكائن الحي. أظهرت النتائج ان هذا المستخلص النباتي يسبب تثبيطاً عالياً لنمو الخلايا السرطانية فقط و ليس الخلايا الطبيعية و ذلك من خلال تراكم الخلايا بنسبة عالية في مرحلة ما بعد الطور البيني و ما قبل الأنقسام الخلوي ( G2/M ) و هي مرحلة التفتيتش التي تمنع الخلايا ذات الحمض النووي التالف من الأنسقام و ذلك عن طريق تنشيط عملية برمجة موت الخلايا بتغيير معدلات التعبير الجيني و البروتيني لكل من p53,Bcl2,Caspase3 . |
