Summary, etc. Biopolymer chitosan (CS) was modified by sulfonation to be used in preparation of proton exchange membrane (PEM) of Fuel cell (FC) to improve some properties of the commercial Nafion (NF) membrane. Optimum parameters of the sulfonation process were investigated. In addition the kinetic study of the sulfonation process was studied. Seventeen membranes were prepared from sulfonated CS with individual or mixed of inorganic fillers (SiO2 TiO2 and CNT) with two cross linkers. The optimum membrane performance was prepared by using a mixture of sulfonated CS with STiO2/SSiO2/SCNT and cross-linked with glutaraldehyde. It was characterized by high ion exchange capacity (IEC), high water uptake and low cost compared with NF membrane

Summary, etc. تم تحسين خواص الكيتوزان الحيوى بأدخال مجموعه السلفات فى تكوينه لاستخدامه في تحضير غشاء تبادل أيونى ومقارنته بغشاء النافيون المستخدم فى خلايا الوقود حاليا . حيث أجريت دراسة الظروف المثلى لعملية السلفنة. كذلك أجريت الدراسة الحركية لعملية السلفنة. وقد تم تحضير سبعة عشر غشاء وذلك بخلط سلفات الكيتوزان مع اضافات فردية من سلفات التيتانيوم او سلفات السيليكا او أضافات مختلطه من سلفات التيتانيوم وسلفات السيليكا وسلفات أنابيب الكربون النانومتريه. وقد ثبت أن أحسن أداء للأغشيه هو الغشاء المكون من مزيج من سلفات الكيتوزان مع خليط من سلفات التيتانيوم وسلفات السيليكا وسلفات أنابيب الكربون النانومتريه مع أستخدام الجلوتير الدهيد كرابط. وتميز هذا الغشاء بأرتفع قابليته للتبادل الأيونى وقدرته على أمتصاص المياه مع رخص ثمنه مقارنه بغشاء النافيون.
