Summary, etc. This study aimed to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of the so-called GeneXpert MTB/RIF assay in detecting M. bovis in samples collected from cattle suspects to have tuberculosis. A retrospective study was conducted, including 50 dairy cows with a history of bTB. The GeneXpert technique, direct microscopy, and sample cultivation were carried out in parallel on all the samples to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of each. GeneXpert showed higher positivity rates compared to the culture. Out of the examined 50 cattle lymph nodes from different slaughtered animals, 38 were GeneXpert-positive, and culture-positive, while 12 were GeneXpert-negative, and culture-negative. The performance of GeneXpert on animal lymph node samples demonstrated reliable detection capabilities. The study highlights the diagnostic potential of GeneXpert in detecting M. bovis infection, and its usefulness in diagnosing and monitoring infections in animal populations. GeneXpert offers improved sensitivity compared to conventional methods, and can aid in the accurate detection of M. bovis infection in clinical samples.<br/>In addition, a hundred human suspects were subjected to the routine clinical examination, chest X-ray, staining of sputum with the Ziehl-Neelsen method, skin tuberculin test, cultivation method, and finally, GeneXpert-MTB assay. Out of the hundred patients, 78 were confirmed using GeneXpert, while 63 were positive for the organism isolation. These results were evaluated across different age and gender factors. When evaluated against the isolation rate as the gold standard, the GeneXpert-assay expressed a fast and heartening results, with sensitivity (95.23 %), and specificity (59.3%) when dealing with 3 PCR negative cases of the 63 cases compared. GeneXpert-assay can be of value to keep positive cases hospitalized until confirmation with isolation of the slow growing causative bacterium. This will lead to better control on the disease dissemination in the community. However, in setups with moderate to low TB incidence, there is a necessity for further GeneXpert assessment studies.

Summary, etc. إستهدفت هذه الدراسة تقييم حساسية طقم تشخيصي يعتمد على اختبار Real time PCR ويعرف ب GeneXpert MTB/RIF في الكشف عن عصيات السل البقري في عينات مأخوذة من أبقار متوقع إصابتها. و تم اختبار الطقم على 50 عينة بالتوازي مع العزل و الصبغ المباشر و اختبار التيوبركلين للمقارنة. وقد أظهر طقم GeneXpert MTB/RIF حساسية و نوعية عالية حيث كانت 38 عينة من 50 إيجابية لبكتيريا السل و قد أكد ذلك العزل البكتيري. إضافة فإن الطقم يظهر أيضاً مدى مقاومة البكتيريا للريفامبسين و الذي تم تطبيقه في هذه الدراسة على العينات الإيجابية. وفي هذه الدراسة أيضا تم اختبار طقم GeneXpert MTB/RIF على 100 عينة آدمية مأخوذة من حالات تم فحصها إكلينيكياً و معملياً للإصابة بالسل. حيث تم اختبار المرضى بالتصوير الإشعاعي و اختبار الجلد و صبغ عينات بصاق و كذلك زرعها للعزل البكتيري. كذلك تم فحص المرضى للتحري عن الإصابة بالإيدز من عدمه. وقد أظهرت 78 عينة إيجابية للسل (78%) بينما كان فقط 63 عينة إيجابية مع العزل البكتيري (63%) .وقد تم تسجيل أعمار و أجناس المرضى ولم يوجد أي ارتباط مع الجنس بينما كانت النسب أعلى في الأعمار الكبيرة. وبمقارنته بنتائج العزل، أظهر GeneXpert MTB/RIF حساسية ونوعية 95.23 % و 59.4% على التوالي. وعليه فإن استعمال طقم GeneXpert MTB/RIF مفيد جداً للسيطرة على انتشار مرض السل بين الآدميين وكذلك الحيوانات المزرعية.
