Summary, etc. Active magnetic bearings (AMB) have been successfully used for high-speed rotors in <br/>the industry due to their frictionless suspension, no-contact supports, and ability to control <br/>the rotor position and damp the rotating vibrations. For the same load-carrying capacity, <br/>AMBs have a larger volume compared to the other conventional bearings. The design <br/>procedure of AMBs have been used to obtain the initial dimensions of AMB for certain <br/>load carrying capacities. Design optimization problem has been modeled and developed <br/>to minimize the volume of the initially designed AMB, while keeping the same required <br/>capacity. Objective function and design constraints equations for the optimization <br/>problem have been developed. Sequential quadratic programming optimization method <br/>)SQP( and genetic algorithm )GA( techniques have been applied to solve the optimization <br/>problem. Various problems have been solved for 8 poles and 12 poles AMBs <br/>configurations. In addition, an industrial case study of 16 poles magnetic bearing for high-<br/>speed rotor has been studied. The optimization results show that the volume of the <br/>optimized bearings is reduced compared to the initial design, and thus the optimization <br/>results reduce the size of the AMB, saving material, space and cost.

Summary, etc. تتميز كراسي المحاور المغناطيسية بعدم وجود احتكاك او تلامس للعمود الدوار و توفر القدرة على التحكم في مركز الدوار و تخميد الاهتزازات ولكن يعتبر حجمها كبير لنفس الأحمال مقارنة بكراسي المحاور التقليدية. تقدم هذه الرسالة نموذجا للوصول إلى التصميم الأمثل فقد تم عمل تصميم مبدئي لكراسي المحاور المغناطيسية و تطوير النموذج الرياضي لحل مسألة التصميم الأمثل لكرسي المحور المغناطيسي للوصول للحجم الأصغر مع الحفاظ على نفس قدرة الحمل المطلوبة و تم استنتاج دالة الهدف و معادلات قيود التصميم و ذلك باستخدام خوارزمية التحسين التسلسلية والخوارزمية الجينية . تم تطبيق طريقة التصميم الأمثل على كراسي مغناطيسية مختلفة الأحمال ذات 8 و 12 قطبا وايجاد التصميم الأمثل لكرسي مغناطيسي ذو 16 قطبًا لدوار صناعي عالي السرعة مع قطر كبير وقدرة حمل عالية و قد أثبت النتائج نجاحا في تصغير حجم الكرسي مقارنة بحجم الكرسي الناتج عن التصميم المبدئي .
