Summary, etc. Background: knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is the most common joint disorder among middle to older age individuals. It is painful and disabling diseases which are characterized by pain, stiffness, loss of joint function, difficulty moving and loss of muscle strength. Increasing the negative effects on knee joint leads to deterioration of the physical function and quality of life in individuals. Aim of the current study: was to evaluate the effect of lavender oil versus rosemary oil on knee joint pain, stiffness, and physical function among patients with knee osteoarthritis. Research design: Quasi- experimental pre-posttest nonequivalent control group design was utilized to achieve the aim of the current study. Setting: the study was conducted in orthopedic outpatient clinic at Fayoum university hospital-Fayoum governorate-Egypt. Subjects: Ninety of study participant are included in this research study. The researcher was allocating participated patients into three equal groups; group I was received lavender oil (Lavandula Angustifolia), group II was received rosemary oil (Rosmarinus Officinalis), and group III was control group who received routine treatment only. Tools: Two tools were used for data collection; (1) structured interview questionnaire including demographic and medical data as age, gender, occupation, marital status, current complain, onset and duration of illness, and, etc. (2) WOMAC index questionnaire including pain, stiffness and physical function. Results: revealed that the difference in total scores regarding total physical function level pre and post intervention demonstrated that there were statistically significant differences in pre and post intervention within lavender group, and among rosemary group. While there were no statistically significant differences within control group. Conclusion: The results of the current study concluded that both lavender and rosemary application induced significant improvement in WOMAC pain subscale among patients with mild and moderate knee osteoarthritis from the first week of application to third week after their intervention in comparison to control group. Recommendation: The study was realizing that nurses need to increase their awareness and teaching measures to develop a body of knowledge and new evidence-based nursing practice toward aromatherapy oil application.

Summary, etc. التهابات المفاصل تعتبر من المشاكل الصحية الشائعه فى المجتمع ويتجلي التهاب مفصل الركبة في المقام الأول من هذا النوع من الإلتهابات ومن أهم أعراضها الألم والذى يتميز بتدرج فى شدته وحدته وخاصة مع زيادة درجة خشونة مفصل الركبة والذى يؤثر على معدل نطاق حركة المفصل, وهناك طرق مختلفة فى علاج التهابات مفصل الركبة ومنها العلاج الدوائى وغير الدوائى. ويكون العلاج دوائيا في شكل مسكنات موضعية أوعن طريق الفم (مضادات التهابات غير الستيرويدية( أو غير دوائي في شكل زيوت عطرية الذي يمكن أن تكون مفيده في تقليل الشعور بالألم.<br/>ومن أمثلة الزيوت العطرية زيت اللافندر واكليل الجبل ويحتوي زيت اللافندر على خصائص مضادة للإلتهابات ومضادة للأكسدة ومطهرة ومضادة للبكتيريا. وأيضا يحتوي زيت إكليل الجبل على تأثيرات تحفيزية ومهدئة ومسكنة للألم ، ويستخدم كمضاد لإلتهابات ومضاد للميكروبات، وبالتالي يمكن إستخدامه كطريقة تكميلية لتقليل الألام وتحسين نوعية حياة المريض. وتقوم الممرضه بدور هام وأساسى فى تقليل الألم لدى المرضى بتنفيذ العلاج الدوائى الموصوف للمريض بالإضافة الى العلاج التكميلى للإرتقاء بحالة المريض والوصول الى أقصى درجة من الصحة. لذا، فإن الهدف من الدراسة الحالية هو تقييم تأثير زيت اللافندر مقابل زيت إكليل الجبل على نتائج مختارة (ألم الركبة وخشونة مفصل الركبة ، والوظيفة البدنية) بين المرضى الذين يعانون من التهاب مفصل الركبة.
