Summary, etc. Translating children’s literature is a difficult task because it takes place in a social and cultural context. Many restrictions enter into play during the translation process. Factors such as the status of the source text, its modification for ideological and/or educational purposes, its degree of complexity, the needs of the target audience, and the linguistic norms prevailing in the target culture represent specific areas of challenge. This thesis discusses the issue of translating children’s literature and the strategies adopted when translating ideological implications from English into Arabic. In the light of André Lefevere’s rewriting theory, this study attempts to investigate the translation strategies/techniques that Mokhtar Al-Swaify opted for in rendering The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain and how such strategies enabled him to produce an accessible and enjoyable Arabic translation for young Arab readers

Summary, etc. تعد ترجمة أدب الأطفال مهمة صعبة لأنها تتم في سياق اجتماعي وثقافي. تلعب العديد من القيود دوراً مهماً أثناء عملية الترجمة. تمثل عوامل مثل حالة النص المصدر، وتعديله لأغراض أيديولوجية أو تعليمية ودرجة تعقيده، واحتياجات الجمهور المستهدف، والمعايير اللغوية السائدة في الثقافة المستهدفة تحديات إضافية. تناقش هذه الأطروحة موضوع ترجمة أدب الأطفال والاستراتيجيات المعتمدة عند ترجمة الدلالات الأيديولوجية من الإنجليزية إلى العربية. في ضوء نظرية أندريه ليفيفير في إعادة صياغة النص، تحاول هذه الدراسة التحقق من استراتيجيات/تقنيات الترجمة التي اختارها مختار السويفي لترجمة رواية مغامرات هكلبري فين للكاتب مارك توين ومعرفة كيف مكنته هذه الاستراتيجيات من تقديم ترجمة عربية سهلة وممتعة للقراء العرب الشباب.
