Summary, etc. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of a proposed strategy based on the applications of semantic lexicography to develop vocabulary and its effect on reading comprehension in English for secondary stage students. To fulfill its purpose, the study utilized a quasi-experimental method, pre-posttest control group design. The participants of the study were 60 first-year secondary school students at Aja Secondary School, located in Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt who were randomly assigned into two groups, experimental (N=30) and control. (N=30). To collect the needed data, the researcher designed a vocabulary checklist, EFL reading comprehension skills checklist, EFL vocabulary test, and EFL reading comprehension skills test. The treatment included a suggested strategy based on the applications of semantic lexicography with 13 steps. The results of the study revealed the effect of a suggested strategy based on semantic lexicography in enhancing vocabulary and reading comprehension skills of first-year secondary school students<br/>

Summary, etc. هدفت الدراسة الحالية إلى معرفة استراتيجية قائمة على تطبيقات علم المعجم الدلالي لتنمية المفردات اللغوية وأثرها على الفهم القرائي باللغة الإنجليزية لطلاب المرحلة الثانوية. ولتحقيق هدفها، استخدمت الدراسة المنهج شبه التجريبي، من خلال تصميم المجموعة الضابطة ذات الاختبار البعدي. شارك في الدراسة 60 طالبًا من طلاب الصف الأول الثانوي بمدرسة أجا الثانوية بمحافظة الدقهلية بمصر، تم تقسيمهم عشوائيًا إلى مجموعتين، تجريبية (العدد = 30) وضابطة. (ن = 30). وتكونت أدوات الدراسة قائمة بمهارات الفهم القرائي واختبار المفردات واختبار مهارات الفهم القرائي، وتضمنت مادة المعالجة التجريبية استراتيجية مقترحة قائمة على تطبيقات المعجم الدلالي. وكشفت نتائج الدراسة عن أثر الاستراتيجية المقترحة في تنمية المفردات ومهارات الفهم القرائي لدى طلاب الصف الأول الثانوي.
