| Summary, etc. | Background: Kinesio Taping is a therapeutic tool used for treatment of <br/>musculoskeletal disorders. However, its clinical effectiveness in the treatment <br/>of discogenic unilateral sciatica not well supported by scientific research. <br/>Purpose: To explore the efficacy of adding (KT) to conventional <br/>physiotherapy in treating patients with discogenic unilateral sciatica. Patients, <br/>materials and methods: a double blinded randomized controlled trial <br/>involved thirty male & female unilateral sciatic patients referred to the <br/>outpatient clinic of Al-ahrar Teaching Hospital, Mean age (30:40 y), BMI was <br/>(less than 30kg/m2), were randomly allocated into two equal groups,15 <br/>patients in each group, all received conventional physical therapy. In addition, <br/>Group A received KT, Group B received placebo KT. Treatment sessions were <br/>applied 2 times weekly for 3 weeks for all groups. Visual analogue scale <br/>(VAS) was utilized to assess pain level, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) was <br/>utilized to assess functional disability, smart phone inclinometer was used to <br/>assess hip flexion angle and knee extension angle. Results: There was a <br/>significant decrease in the VAS and ODI scores following the intervention in <br/>both groups compared with that before treatment (p > 0.001). There was a <br/>significant increase in passive hip flexion ROM and knee extension angle after <br/>treatment in both groups compared with that before treatment. Comparing <br/>both groups revealed non-significant difference in the VAS score, the ODI <br/>score, passive hip flexion ROM and knee extension angle after treatment (p > <br/>0.05). Conclusion: The Kinesio tape has no extra benefits in management of <br/>patients of discogenic unilateral sciatica when add to conventional physical <br/>therapy. |

| Summary, etc. | شارك ثلاثين مريضاً من الذكور والإناث مصابين بعرق النسا من جانب واحد تمت إحالتهم إلى العيادة الخارجية بمستشفى الأحرار التعليمي، تتراوح أعمارهم بين (40:30 سنة)، وكان مؤشر كتلة الجسم (أقل من 30 كجم / م2)، تم تقسيمهم عشوائيا إلى مجموعتين متساويتين، 15 مريضا في كل مجموعة، تلقوا جميعا العلاج الطبيعي التقليدي. وبالإضافة إلى ذلك، تلقت المجموعة (أ) شريط كينيسيو ، والمجموعة (ب) تلقت شريط كينيسيو الوهمي . تم تطبيق جلسات العلاج مرتين في الأسبوع لمدة 3 أسابيع للمجموعتين. تم استخدام المقياس التمثيلي البصري لتقييم شدة الألم، وتم استخدام مؤشر أوسويستري للإعاقة لتقييم الإعاقة الوظيفية لأسفل الظهر، وتم استخدام مقياس الميل بالهواتف الذكية لتقييم زاوية انثناء مفصل الفخذ وزاوية تمديد مفصل الركبة. إضافة شريط كينيسيو الحقيقي أو الوهمي إلى برنامج العلاج الطبيعي التقليدي لمرضي عرق النسا الاحادي الفقري يؤدي إلى تحسن الألم والإعاقة وزاوية فرد مفصل الفخذ وزاوية تمديد مفصل الركبة. |
