| Summary, etc. | This study's objective was to determine whether bee venom loaded on nanofibers had any neuroprotective benefits after spinal cord injury in adult female Sprague Dawley rats (n = 72). Six groups of animals were used: control, sham, spinal cord injury, free bee venom, unloaded CS/PVA nanofibers, and bee venom-loaded nanofibers. The injured spinal cord tissue's S100 beta activity increased noticeably due to SCI. However, the injury caused levels of nitric oxide, Malondialdehyde, and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to rise significantly. Most of the aforementioned biochemical measures were improved and moved closer to the values of the sham group after rats with post-SCI were treated with CS/PVA unloaded nanofibers. All the examined biochemical parameters were improved in SCI rats treated with bee venom placed on nanofibers. In wounded spinal cord tissue, bee venom caused NO, MDA, and H2O2 levels to drop. Further research is necessary to define the function of bee venom and CS/PVA nanofibers in the treatment of SCI, however, as the present work offers new insight into the anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative stress mechanisms of bee venom activity. <br/> |
