Summary, etc.	Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a novel highly transmissible infectious disease caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) first appeared in China in December 2019 and has been responsible for a worldwide pandemic as declared by the WHO in March 2020. Moreover, diabetic patients are more susceptible to infectious diseases in general including COVID-19 and they are severely affected leading to high morbidity and mortality levels.<br/>This analytical two-phase study (cross-sectional and prospective) aimed at decreasing incidence of COVID-19 associated morbidity and mortality among 246 diabetic patients attending Kasr Al Ainy endocrinology clinic in Cairo University. Specific objectives were to estimate the COVID-19 vaccination rate, vaccine hesitancy and its associated factors, degree of adherence to preventive measures, vaccine breakthrough and its predictors.<br/>Two questionnaires were designed to collect data about demographics, medical history, previous COVID-19 infection and vaccination as well as adherence to preventive measures, in addition to a vaccine breakthrough follow up questionnaire.<br/>The vaccination rate among our participants was almost 50% (n=118).<br/>Two-thirds of the studied patients (n=183) were non-adherent to preventive measures. Almost 17.9% completely refused vaccine uptake. The significant associated factors of vaccine hesitancy included young age, sex (higher among males) and education level (higher among non-educated and primary educated participants). <br/>One third of the vaccinated participants (31.2%) suffered from post-vaccine suspected infection or vaccine breakthrough. <br/>Developing a strategic plan is recommended to promote awareness among diabetic patients regarding infections and vaccination and the importance of public preventive measures as well as mitigate vaccine hesitancy associated factors among them.

Summary, etc.	يعد مرض فيروس كورونا ٢٠١٩ (كوفيد-١٩) مرضا معديا مستجداً شديد العدوى ناجماً عن الإصابة بفيروس المتلازمة التنفسية الحادة الشديدة ٢ و قد ظهر لأول مرة في الصين في ديسمبر ٢٠١٩ وكان مسؤولاً عن جائحة عالمية كما أعلنتها منظمة الصحة العالمية في مارس ٢٠٢٠. ووفقًا للمنظمة فإن معدل الوفيات العالمي للحالات بلغ ٢.٢٪ عام ٢٠٢١.<br/>و العلاقة بين كوفيد-١٩ ومرض السكري علاقة ذات اتجاهين فهناك نقاط متعددة يتداخل فيها فيروس كورونا (كوفيد-١٩) مع مرض السكري حيث يظهر مرضى السكري الذين يصابون بعدوى كوفيد-١٩ تدهوراً أشد و زيادة في معدلات الوفيات وذلك بناءاً على معظم الدراسات الاخري.<br/>تعد التدابير الاحترازية للصحة العامة هي الطريقة الأكثر فعالية والتي ينبغي على العالم أن يتبعها لكبح جماح هذا الوباء. و الهدف الرئيس لمثل هذه التدابير هو منع انتشار العدوى من شخص لآخر عن طريق منع انتقاله و يعد التزام المجتمع بهذه التدابير أمراً حيوياً لضمان السيطرة على انتقال المرض. يرتبط هذا الالتزام ارتباطا وثيقا بمدي المعرفة والممارسات العامة نحو كوفيد-١٩.<br/>لقد تم بذل جهدا ضخما لتطوير وتصنيع لقاحات ضد فيروس كورونا المستجد و بحلول مارس ٢٠٢٠ تم اعطاء حوالي ١٠ مليار جرعة للقاح حول العالم وقد حصل حوالي ٦٣.١٪ من إجمالي السكان علي جرعة واحدة على الأقل من اللقاح.<br/>يوصف التردد في تلقي اللقاح بأنه حالة التأخر في قبول اللقاح أو حتى الرفض تام لأخذه على الرغم من توفره. ويعد واحدا من أهم التهديدات التي قد تمنع التغطية المطلوبة لإنشاء الحصانة المناعية ضد المرض.<br/> بالرغم من ارتفاع مستوى فعالية اللقاح، إلا أن بعض من تم تلقيحهم بشكل كامل اصيبوا بعدوى فيروس كوفيد مرة أخري سواءاً مصحوبة بأعراض أوغير مصحوبة.
