Summary, etc.	Background: Plantar fasciitis is a common foot problem, a serious public health issue and common source of heel pain in outpatient department. Purpose: To compare between the effect of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization versus positional release technique on pain intensity level, pain pressure threshold, ankle dorsiflexion and plantar flexion range of motion, knee flexion range of motion, and foot function level in patients with chronic plantar fasciitis. Design: A randomized control trial design Subjects: Sixty chronic plantar fasciitis patients from both genders participated in this study. Methods: Patients were assigned randomly using a computerized block randomization into three equal groups Group (A) received instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization technique then hot packs, Group (B) received positional release technique on different tender points and Group (C) the three groups received a conventional physiotherapy program that included stretching exercises for plantar fascia, gastrocnemius, soleus muscles and short-foot exercise adapted from guidelines. The treatment protocol applied by the rate of two sessions per week for four weeks for all patients. In this study pain intensity level, pain pressure threshold, range of motion and foot function level were assessed by visual analogue scale, digital pressure algometer, digital goniometer and Arabic version of Foot and Ankle Ability Measure questionnaire respectively. Results: Between group comparison revealed that there was a significant decrease in visual analogue scale scores, a significant increase in pain pressure threshold values of different four tender points, ankle dorsiflexion, plantar flexion range of motion, knee flexion range of motion and foot function level of group A compared with that of group B and C. Conclusion: Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization and positional release technique were beneficial in treatment of chronic plantar fasciitis, while instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization has the superiority in the improvement than positional release technique.

Summary, etc.	الخلفية: يعد التهاب باطن القدم الغشائي المزمن مشكلة صحية عامة خطيرة لأنه المصدر الشائع لألم الكعب في أقسام العيادات الخارجية. الغرض: تم المقارنة بين تأثير تحريك الأنسجة الرخوة باستخدام الأدوات المساعدة مقابل تقنية الانفراج الوضعي على مستوى شدة الألم، ودرجة الألم مع الضغط ، مدى ثني مفصل الكاحل في الاتجاهين، ومدى ثنى مفصل الركبة ، ومستوى وظيفة القدم في مرضى التهاب باطن القدم الغشائي المزمن. الأشخاص: شارك في هذه الدراسة ستون مريضا من كلا الجنسين يعانون من التهاب باطن القدم الغشائي المزمن. الأساليب: تم تقسيم المرضى بشكل عشوائي باستخدام كتلة عشوائية محوسبة إلى ثلاث مجموعات متساوية المجموعة (أ) مكونة من عشرين مريض تم العلاج بتحريك الأنسجة الرخوة باستخدام الأدوات المساعدة بالإضافة إلى العلاج التقليدي، المجموعة (ب) مكونة من عشرين مريض تم العلاج بتقنية الانفراج الوضعي بالإضافة إلى العلاج التقليدي والمجموعة (ج) مكونة من عشرين مريض تم العلاج بالعلاج التقليدي في شكل تمارين إطالة لباطن القدم الغشائي، عضلات الساق الخلفية وتمارين القدم القصيرة. وكانت مدة العلاج جلستين بالأسبوع لمدة أربعة أسابيع لجميع المجموعات. تم التقييم قبل فترة العلاج وبعدها، وتم تقييم مستوى شدة الألم بواسطة المقياس الوصفي البصري للألم، وتم تقييم درجة الألم مع الضغط بواسطة مقياس الضغط الرقمي، وتم تقييم مدى حركة مفصلى الكاحل والركبة بواسطة مقياس الزوايا الرقمي وتم تقييم مستوى وظيفة القدم بواسطة النسخة العربية لاستبيان قياس قدرة القدم والكاحل. النتائج: كان هناك تحسن كبير في درجات شدة الألم، درجة الألم مع الضغط لنقاط الألم الأربعة المختلفة ، مدى حركة مفصلى الكاحل والركبة والنسخة العربية لقياس قدرة القدم والكاحل للمجموعة (أ) مقارنة مع ذلك. من المجموعة (ب) و (ج). الاستنتاجات: كلا من تحريك الأنسجة الرخوة باستخدام الأدوات المساعدة وتقنية الانفراج الوضعي كانت مفيدة في علاج التهاب باطن القدم الغشائي المزمن. لكن من تحريك الأنسجة الرخوة باستخدام الأدوات المساعدة لها التفوق في تحسين مستوى شدة الألم، ودرجة الألم مع الضغط ، مدى حركة مفصلى الكاحل والركبة ، ومستوى وظيفة القدم مقارنة بتقنية الإنفراج الوضعي.
