| Summary, etc. | Forty males with chronic ischemic hemiparesis ranging in age from 45 to 65 years were randomly assigned into two equal groups; the study group (G1) received 30 minutes of real transcutaneous auricular Vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) followed immediately by 30 minutes of conventional program of upper limb therapeutic exercises and the control group (G2) received the same program of study group but with sham taVNS. The intervention was conducted “three” sessions per week for “four weeks”. Muscle strength of upper limb (Isometric shoulder abductor (IMSA) and elbow flexors (IMEF); isokinetic muscle strength of elbow flexors (IKEF) and extensors (IKEE), hand grip (HG) strength, motor function of upper limb, gross hand dexterity, neural plasticity were assessed by Biodex System 3 Pro Isokinetic dynamometer, Electronic Hand Dynamometer, Fugl-Meyer Assessment for upper extremity (FMA-UE), Box and Blocks Test (BBT) and plasma levels of Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) respectively for both groups pre and post treatment. Adding transcutaneous auricular vagal nerve stimulation to the conventional therapeutic exercise program improved motor function of upper extremity in chronic stroke patients.<br/><br/> |

| Summary, etc. | أشتملت الدراسة على 40 مریض یعانون من شلل نصفي مزمن. أعمارھم بین ٤٥ و ٦٥ عاما و قد قسموا عشوائیا إلي مجموعتین متساویتین مجموعة الدراسة (المجموعة ۱ والمجموعة ۲). عولجت مجموعة الدراسة بتحفیز العصب الحائر الأذني عبر الجلد لمدة ثلاثون دقیقة متبوعة مباشرة ببرنامج مصمم للتمارین العلاجیة للأطراف العلویة مدتھ ثلاثون دقیقة. وتلقت المجموعة الضابطة نفس برنامج التمارین العلاجیة لمجموعة الدراسة ولكن مع التحفیزالوھمي للعصب الحائر الأذني عبر الجلد. تم إجراء العلاج بواقع ثلاث جلسات أسبوعیا لمدة شھر واحد و كانت مدة كل جلسة ساعة واحدة. تم تقییم المرضى قبل وبعد إنتھاء فتره العلاج عن طریق قیاس قوة العضلات القیاسیة لابعاد الكتف وثني المرفق ،قوة العضلات الحركیة لثني و فرد المرفق، قوة قبضة الید، الوظیفة الحركیة للطرف ، العلوي، وظائف الید الأجمالیة، العوامل العصبیة المخیة بواسطة مقیاس دینامومتر بیودكس ۳ للطرف العلوي ، واختبار الصندوق و مقیاس دینامومتر الید الإلكتروني ، وتقییم ومستویات البلازما من العوامل العصبیة المخیة على التوالي لكلا المكعبات المجموعتین قبل وبعد العلاج ویمكن أن تؤدي إضافة تحفیز العصب الحائر الأذني عبر الجلد لبرنامج العلاج الطبیعي إلى تحسین الوظیفة الحركیة للطرف العلوي لدى مرضى السكتة الدماغیة المزمنة |
