| Summary, etc. | Distracted driving is a major cause of fatal crashes on urban roads. According to the US Department of Transportation, distracted driving was the cause of 8.7% of total road fatalities in 2019. To investigate the impact of billboards on driver gaze behavior and how this leads to distraction, a billboard detection model was developed to characterize 7 billboard types and another model to detect the direction of the driver’s gaze. Data was collected from multiple roads (26th of July corridor - Ring Road - 6th of October Bridge), on all roads, for all drivers. The results indicate that at any given time and point on the road, drivers are exposed to an average of 3 billboards/second (frame) and 5% of the billboard area to field of view/second (frame). Overall, drivers were distracted an average of 11 times per 15-minute trip on the 26th of July corridor, and an average of 7 times per 12-minute trip on the 6th of October Bridge.` |

| Summary, etc. | وصلت نسبة الوفيات الناتجة عن القيادة المشتتة عام 2019 الى 8.7% من اجمالي الوفيات وفقًا لوزارة النقل الأمريكية، من أجل التحقيق في تأثير لوحات الإعلانات على سلوك نظر السائق وكيف يؤدي ذلك إلى تشتيت الانتباه، تم تطوير نموذج الكشف عن اللوحات الإعلانية لتحديد خصائص 7 أنواع من اللوحات الإعلانية ونموذج آخر لاكتشاف اتجاه نظرة السائق، تم تجميع البيانات من طرق متعددة (محور 26 يوليو - الطريق الدائري - كوبري 6 أكتوبر)، على جميع الطرق ولجميع السائقين تشير النتائج إلى أنه في أي وقت وفي أي نقطة على الطريق ، يتعرض السائقون في المتوسط لـ 3 لوحات إعلانية / ثانية (الإطار) و 5٪ نسبة مساحة لوحة الإعلانات لمجال الرؤية / ثانية (الإطار) ، وبشكل عام فقد تشتت السائقون في المتوسط 11 مرة لكل رحلة مدتها 15 دقيقة على محور 26 يوليو، و7 مرات في المتوسط لكل رحلة مدتها 12 دقيقة على كوبري 6 أكتوبر. |
