Summary, etc. The study aims to investigate how the dimension proportions and orientations of the central courtyards impact the optimal tree shading ratio, ultimately, improving outdoor thermal comfort regarding the universal thermal climate index (UTCI). Understanding this relationship can provide an in-depth insight into designing more sustainable and more comfortable outdoor urban spaces. By analyzing different courtyard proportions and tree shading scenarios utilizing quantitative and qualitative research methods, urban designers and architects can make early decisions to improve thermal comfort.
