| Summary, etc. | Stevia plant is a medicinal plant of Asteraceae Family leaves are the economic part of the plant, Salinity is considered as a major problem in many arid and semi-arid regions of the world, so this research is to study the effect of salinity with different concentrations (25, 50 and 75 mM) and six nano fertilizer treatments such as nano zeolite, biochar and nano zeolite loaded nitrogen on the growth and chemical composition of the Stevia plant. Two experiments carried out at Cairo University Plant Physiology Department, Giza, Egypt, during the summer seasons of 2018 and 2019. The pots were kept in outdoor condition and the plants were watered once a week with 500 ml per pot of sea mixture. Data were obtained after 62 days of transplanting represented in growth parameters which include plant height, leaf number per plant, fresh weight, dry weight and leaf area. Chemical content such as total chlorophyll, carotenoids, phenolic content, total carbohydrates, and steviosides, macro and micro elements. The results indicated that combining nano zeolite with biochar achieved the highest values in morphology measurements, chemical composition of stevia plant, and macro and micro elements. As will, high salinity levels significantly decreased the morphological parameters, macro and micro elements (N, P, Zn, Fe and Mn), while increasing in Na, Ca and K. The increasing of salinity levels also achieved increasing values of proline, phenols contents and steivosides as a response to salt stress. Total carbohydrates increased with salinity at 25 mM and then reduced with increasing salinity at level (75 mM). Moreover, the treatment of biochar achieved the lowest results among salinity levels. Nano-fertilizations can provide the crops with their essential nutrients and can be of the most environmental and economic significance in comparison to chemical fertilization.<br/> |
| 520 #3 - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. |
