| Summary, etc. | Uveitic glaucoma (UG) is a common complication of uveitis. The term uveitic glaucoma is used to describe glaucoma resulting directly or indirectly from uveitis. The estimated prevalence of glaucoma due to uveitis varies according to the source, but is estimated between 10 to 20% of cases, and can be as high as 46% in cases of severe chronic uveitis.(4)<br/> In a recent retrospective descriptive observational study of patients’ medical records of the uveitis clinic at Cairo university hospitals, ocular hypertension was the second most common complication of uveitis (9.3 % of the eyes). Glaucoma was found in 5.8 % of the eyes.(5)<br/> The mechanisms by which uveitis leads to elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) are numerous and poorly understood. In general, iridocyclitis affects both aqueous production and resistance to aqueous outflow, with the subsequent change in IOP representing a balance between these two factors. The use of steroids is also an important risk factor for IOP elevation. The management of uveitic glaucoma is a very challenging condition for ophthalmologists |

| Summary, etc. | التهاب القزحية هو مجموعة من الأمراض التي تصيب الطبقة المشيمية للعين وقد تصيب الأنسجة المحيطة بها كالشبكية والجسم الزجاجي. ويعد التهاب القزحية من أهم أسباب الإعاقة البصرية في الفئة العمرية العاملة . وتعد المياه الزرقاء من أهم مضاعفات التهاب القزحية.<br/>وقد قمنا في هذا البحث بدراسة نتائج شق اللجام الغربالى من داخل زاوية العين بمساعدة عدسة التنظير لعلاج المياه الزرقاء ذات الزاوية المفتوحة الناتجة عن التهاب القزحية .<br/>وشملت هذه الدراسة 42 عيناً تم متابعتهم لفترة تتراوح بين 6-37 شهراً. وانخفض ضغط العين من 31.02 ملم زئبق الى 12.51 ملم زئبق في الشهر الثاني عشر. وهو ما يقارب 62.11 % انخفاض في ضغط العين. كما انخفض عدد الأدوية المستخدمة لخفض ضغط العين من 3.67 الى 0.97 عند الشهر الثاني عشر. وتعد هذه التغيرات ذات دلالة إحصائية. كما لم يحدث أي تغيرات ذات دلالة إحصائية في حدة الإبصار عند الشهر الثاني عشر. وأيضاً لم يحدث أي مضاعفات خطيرة من العملية في أياً من المرضى. وحسب تعريف النجاح المستخدم في الدراسة فإن نسبة النجاح عند الشهر الثاني عشر هي 95.2 %.<br/>هذه النتائج تثبت أن عملية شق اللجام الغربالى من داخل زاوية العين بمساعدة عدسة التنظير عملية آمنة وفعالة لعلاج المياه الزرقاء ذات الزاوية المفتوحة الناتجة عن التهاب القزحية. |
