| Summary, etc. | Background and purpose: In dorm students rely mostly if not completely on the food provided by the university food service. Deviation from the required food quantity, quality or sanitation requirements could have a deleterious impact on those students. Over nutrition was reported among dining halls students. University resident students were found to be 1.58 times significantly more likely to have a higher BMI ≥ 25 than non-residents. This study aimed at the development of nutritional services provided to in dorm students in Helwan University.<br/>Method: This study is Nutrition service intervention study. Stratified random sample of 342 students (193 males and 149 females) was selected from in dorm students participating in Helwan university on-campus nutrition service and all 20 workers in the central kitchen were enrolled. Initial assessment was carried out for the nutritional status of included students; central kitchen, dining room and sanitation; students’ satisfaction with the food, service, and general atmosphere in dining room. Two nutrition education programs were developed and implemented, one for the students and one for the workers; defects were reported to the administration. Following intervention all the items of initial assessment were re-assessed using the same tools.<br/>Result: Overweight, obesity, anemia and high risk of cardiometabolic diseases were prevalent in the studied sample. They affected 37.4%, 16.7%, 62.0% and 88.6% of the studied sample respectively. Overweight, Obesity and central obesity were more prevalent among males while Anemia was more common among females. Students are not or are partially consuming the provided meals while most of them were eating other foods than that served by the nutrition facility. <br/>Conclusion: Intervention improved the prevalence of overweight, obesity, anemia and cardiometabolic risk; it increased the consumed portions of served meals and reduced the percentages consuming other foods than those served by HUNS. Still efforts needed to ensure further improvements. Finally we concluded that, there was an improvement in total nutritional record, compliance dining room, satisfaction and sanitation after implementation the current study program |

| Summary, etc. | هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تطوير الخدمات الغذائية المقدمة لطلاب المدينة الجامعيه بجامعة حلوان. تحديد الفجوات في الخدمات الغذائية المقدمة في جامعة حلوان وتخطيط للتدخلات لحلها يساعد في تطوير هذه الخدمات. تقييم الحالة التغذوية للطلاب المقيمين في السكن ومدى رضاهم والتزامهم بخدمات التغذية بالجامعة تقييم الخدمات الغذائية المقدمة لطلاب المدينة الجامعية بجامعة حلوان. تحديد المشاكل من خلال المقارنة مع الإرشادات الوطنية و/أو الدولية. التخطيط لتطبيق التدخل المناسب. تقييم أثر التدخل من خلال مؤشرات محددة.<br/>أجريت الدراسة في جامعة حلوان في السكن الجامعي، المطبخ المركزي، قاعة الطعام ومدرجات كلية الطب خلال العام الدراسي 2016/2017. تمتع 53.1% من الطالبات بوزن طبيعي، و عانى 40.3% منهن من مخاطر أيضية عالية جدًا و43.6% من فقر دم معتدل. بينما تمتع 39.9% من الذكور بوزن طبيعي، و43% منهم بمستوى طبيعي من الهيموجلوبين وعانى 89.6% منهم من مخاطر أيضية عالية جدًا. لم يكن هناك فرق ذو دلالة إحصائية بين الطالبات والطلاب فيما يتعلق بمستوى مؤشر كتلة الجسم. في حين كان هناك فرق ذو دلالة إحصائية عالية بين الطالبات والطلاب فيما يتعلق بمحيط الخصر ومستوى الهيموجلوبين جم/ديسيلتر. تحسنت المؤشرات المختبرة بعد التدخل. أظهر تحليل السجل الغذائي للطلاب أن نسبة جيدة من الطلاب لم يتناولوا أيًا من الوجبات المقدمة أو جزءًا منها فقط. كما أن معظم الطلاب كانوا يتناولون أطعمة غير تلك المقدمة لهم من قبل خدمات التغذية بالجامعة . هذا وقد أدى التدخل إلى تحسن الكميات المتناولة بشكل كبير. حيث استهلك المزيد من الطلاب جميع الأطعمة المقدمة وأكل عدد أقل من الطلاب أطعمة أخرى غير تلك المقدمة من قبل خدمات التغذية بالجامعة. غرفة الطعام. قبل التدخل، كان متوسط الالتزام في المتابعة الثلاثية الأقل في الإسعافات الأولية (0%)، النظافة (19%)، والإضاءة (25%). وكان أعلى متوسط للالتزام في الأرضيات والممرات والسلالم (94%)، وغرفة /ماكينة الأطباق (80%). بعد التدخل، زاد متوسط الالتزام الملحوظ في المتابعة الثلاثية في جميع المجالات وخاصة في البنية التحتية، والأغذية، وإجراءات الطوارئ، والإسعافات الأولية، ونظافة المرافق (قيمة p<0.05 في جميع المجالات). |
