520 #3 - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. With the increase in demand for fossil fuels, renewable energy is being resorted to. The most popular renewable energy sources are solar and wind energy. These stations use power electronics converters. The inertia of these electronic converters is almost zero, which leads to a reduction in the total inertia of the grid. As the grid inertia decreases, it is more susceptible to frequency disturbances. When an electrical load or station enters or exits, a frequency disturbance occurs that may lead to the activation of the protection relays and the stations going out of service.
In wind plants, the energy stored in the rotor is often relied upon. In solar power plants, they operate at reduced power to provide a reserve of energy that is used during the period of frequency disturbance. In literature survey, many control methods have been proposed that contribute to improve the frequency nadir, but the methods used did not significantly affect the rate of change of frequency. They also do not introduce a clear plan for how to return the stored energy to its natural state. In this thesis, a blend control is proposed to improve the frequency nadir and rate of change. It has also been modified to return safely to the normal state of stored energy.
520 #3 - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
