Background: Baduanjin exercise (BE) is an old Chinese mind-body training that has been used in the treatment of cardiovascular risk indicators, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which is mainly treated by exercise with or without caloric restriction. Objective: To examine the effects of adding BE to the caloric restriction program on liver enzymes in patients with NAFLD. Design: A randomized controlled trial. Settings: Patients were allocated from the internal medicine outpatient clinic, Basyoun Central Hospital, EL-Gharbia Governorate. Participants: Sixty patients (29 men and 31 women) with NAFLD participated in this study. They aged between 50 and 60 years, and had a body mass index (BMI) ranging from 30 to 34.9 kg/m2. Methods: Patients were randomly divided into two groups; the study group (n=30) received a 40-minute Baduanjin exercise daily plus a hypocaloric diet and the control group (n=30) received the hypocaloric diet only. The patients' BMI, serum triglycerides (TG), waist circumference (WC), liver enzymes including alanine transaminase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST), six-minute walk test (6MWT), and The Short Form 36 health survey (SF36) (physical and mental summaries) were assessed in both groups two times pre-study and after eight weeks at the end of the study. Results: A significant improvement in ALT, AST, BMI, TG, WC, 6MWT, physical summary of SF36 and mental summary of SF36 was documented within both groups in favor of the study group as the pre- and post-treatment percentage of changes were 34.49 %, 26.49 %, 6.11 %, 9.65 %, 17.13 %, 12.30 %, 21.03 %, and 19.42 % respectively, for the study group and they were 17.10 %, 12.42 %, 3.35 %, 4.55 %, 9.64 %, 7.88 %, 14.63 %, and 10.16 % respectively, for the control group. Conclusion: It could be summarized from this trial that adding 8-week BE to caloric restriction program played an important role in improving weight loss, abdominal obesity, liver enzymes, physical capacity, TG, and quality of life in NAFLD patients. |

خلفية الرسالة: تمرين بادوانجين هو تمرين صيني قديم للعقل والجسم تم استخدامه في علاج عوامل الخطر القلبية الوعائية. أحد عوامل الخطر القلبية الوعائية هو مرض الكبد الدهني غير الكحولي والذي يتم علاجه بشكل أساسي عن طريق ممارسة الرياضة مع أو بدون تقييد السعرات الحرارية. هدف الرسالة: دراسة آثار إضافة تمرين بادوانجين إلى برنامج تقييد السعرات الحرارية على إنزيمات الكبد في مرضى الكبد الدهني غير الكحولي. تصميم البحث: تجربة عشوائية محوكمة. مكان البحث: العيادة الخارجية لأمراض الباطنة ، مستشفى بسيون المركزي ، محافظة الغربية. المرضى المشاركون: شارك في هذه الدراسة ستون مريضًا مصابًا بمرض الكبد الدهني غير الكحولي من الرجال والسيدات. تراوح مؤشر كتلة الجسم للمرضى بين ٣۰-٣٤.٩ كجم/م۲. تراوحت أعمار المرضى بين ٥۰-٦۰ سنة. طرق البحث: تم توزيع المرضى بشكل عشوائي إلى مجموعتين؛ مجموعة الدراسة والمجموعة الضابطة. تلقت مجموعة الدراسة (العدد = ٣۰) تمرين بادوانجين لمدة أربعين دقيقة يوميًا بالإضافة إلى نظام غذائي منخفض السعرات الحرارية. تلقت المجموعة الضابطة (العدد = ٣۰) النظام الغذائي منخفض السعرات الحرارية فقط. تم تقييم إنزيمات الكبد مثل ناقلة أمين الألانين وناقلة أمين الأسبارتات ، ومؤشر كتلة الجسم للمرضى، ومحيط الخصر، والدهون الثلاثية في الدم ، واختبار المشي لمدة ست دقائق ، والنموذج القصير المكون من ٣٦ عنصرا من استبيان دراسة النتائج الطبية (الملخصات الجسدية والعقلية) في كلا المجموعتين مرتين؛ مرة قبل بدء الدراسة ومرة أخرى بعد ثمانية أسابيع من بداية الدراسة. النتائج: تم توثيق تحسن إحصائى فى إنزيمات الكبد مثل ناقلة أمين الألانين وناقلة أمين الأسبارتات ، ومؤشر كتلة الجسم للمرضى ، ومحيط الخصر، والدهون الثلاثية في الدم ، واختبار المشي لمدة ست دقائق ، والملخص الجسدي والعقلي للنموذج القصير المكون من ٣٦ عنصرا من استبيان دراسة النتائج الطبية في داخل المجموعتين لصالح مجموعة الدراسة مقارنة بين المجموعتين ومقارنة بين مجموعة الدراسة والمجموعة الضابطة. الخلاصة: يمكن أن نستنتج من هذه التجربة أن إضافة ثمانية أسابيع من تمرين بادوانجين إلى برنامج تقييد السعرات الحرارية قد لعب دورًا مهمًا في تحسين إنزيمات الكبد وفقدان الوزن والسمنة في منطقة البطن والقدرة البدنية والدهون الثلاثية ونوعية الحياة لدى المرضى الذين يعانون من مرض الكبد الدهنى الغير الكحولى. |
