| Summary, etc. | Background: Forward head posture (FHP) causes neck pain, disability, and respiratory problems. Both high intensity laser therapy (HILT) and scapular stabilization exercises (SSE) are effective in mitigating musculoskeletal pain and improving functional activities in individuals experiencing neck pain. <br/>Aim: To compare between the effect of HILT and SSE on ventilatory function in FHP patients. <br/>Methods: Sixty male and female FHP patients with age ranged from 30 to 40 years, craniovertebral angle (CVA) < 49° and decreased ventilatory function were recruited and allocated randomly to three equal groups (n = 20): Group A who received conventional exercises, Group B who received conventional exercises plus SSE, and Group C who received conventional exercises plus HILT. All groups A, B and C received 3 sessions weekly for 12 weeks. Pre- and post-treatment, the following measures were obtained: Forced expiratory volume in 1st sec (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC), FEV1/FVC ratio, maximal voluntary ventilation (MVV), craniovertebral angle (CVA), visual analogue scale (VAS), chest expansion, and neck disability index (NDI). <br/>Results: The three groups (A, B and C) showed significant increase in FVC, FEV1, MVV, CVA and chest expansion post treatment. However, group B demonstrated significant greater increase in these parameters compared to groups A and C. Additionally, the increase in group C was significantly greater than in group A. All three groups exhibited significant reductions in VAS and NDI scores. Group C demonstrated the greatest decrease, followed by group B, which showed a significant reduction compared to group A. FEV1/FVC did not significantly differ among the three groups post-therapy in all three groups.<br/>Conclusion: SSE is more beneficial for improving neck alignment, ventilatory function, and chest expansion, while HILT is more advantageous for mitigating pain and disability in FHP patients |

| Summary, etc. | الخلفية: يسبب وضع الرأس للأمام آلام الرقبة ومشاكل بالجهاز التنفسي؛ وكلًا من العلاج بالليزر عالي الكثافة وتمارين تثبيت لوح الكتف فعالاً في تخفيف آلام الجهاز العضلي الهيكلي وتحسين النشاط الوظيفي لدى الأفراد الذين يعانون من آلام الرقبة. <br/>الهدف: مقارنة بين تأثير الليزر عالي الكثافة مقابل تمارين تثبيت لوح الكتف على وظائف التهوية لدى مرضى وضعية الرأس الامامية.<br/> الطريقة: أجريت هذة الدراسة على ستين مريضًا من الذكور والإناث تتراوح أعمارهم ما بين ٣٠، ٤٠ عاماً من مرضى وضعية الرأس الامامية الذين يعانون من زاوية قحفية فقرية أقل من ٤۹ درجة وانخفاض وظائف التنفس وتم توزيعهم عشوائيًا على ثلاث مجموعات متساوية (ن =٢٠): المجموعة أ والتي تلقت التمارين التقليدية، المجموعة ب والتي تلقت التمارين التقليدية بالإضافة إلى تمارين تثبيت لوح الكتف، والمجموعة ج والتي تلقت التمارين التقليدية بالإضافة إلى الليزر عالي الكثافة لمدة ٣ جلسات أسبوعيًا لمدة ۱٢ أسبوعًا. قبل وبعد العلاج، تم قياس حجم الزفير القسري في ثانية واحدة، والسعة التنفسية القسرية، ونسبة حجم الزفير القسري في ثانية واحدة / السعة التنفسية القسرية، والتهوية الطوعية القصوى، والزاوية القحفية الفقرية، ومقياس التناظر البصري، وتوسع الصدر، ومؤشر إعاقة الرقبة. <br/>النتائج: أظهرت المجموعات الثلاث (أ، ب، ج) زيادة كبيرة في حجم الزفير القسري في ثانية واحدة، والسعة التنفسية القسرية والتهوية الطوعية القصوى والزاوية القحفية الفقرية وتوسع الصدر بعد العلاج. ومع ذلك، أظهرت المجموعة ب زيادة أكبر في هذه القياسات مقارنة بالمجموعتين أ وج، بالإضافة الى ذلك، كانت الزيادة في المجموعة ج أكبر مما كانت عليه في المجموعة أ. وأظهرت جميع المجموعات الثلاث انخفاضًا كبيرًا في مقياس التناظر البصري ومؤشر إعاقة الرقبة. وأظهرت المجموعة ج انخفاضًا أكبر تليها المجموعة ب والتى أظهرت انخفاضًا كبيرًا مقارنة بالمجموعة أ. لم تختلف نسبة حجم الزفير القسري في ثانية واحدة / السعة التنفسية القسرية بشكل كبير بين المجموعات الثلاث بعد العلاج. <br/>الاستنتاج: تمارين تثبيت لوح الكتف أكثر فائدة لتحسين وضعية الرأس للأمام، ووظائف التهوية، وتوسيع الصدر، في حين أن الليزر عالي الكثافة أكثر فائدة لتخفيف الألم والإعاقة في مرضى وضعية الرأس للأمام. |
