Summary, etc.	BACKGROUND: Children with cerebral palsy (CP) often experience motor impairments that affect their gross motor function (GMF), leading to limitations in activities and participation. These motor impairments can also have a negative impact on bone health, resulting in reduced bone mineral density (BMD) and increased risk of skeletal complications. OBJECTIVE: To compare BMD (Rt-Left femur and l1:l4spine), GMF and Quality of Life (QOL) between ambulant and non-ambulant children with CP and to study the relation between BMD, GMF and QOL among children with CP. METHODS: Cross sectional correlational study was conducted on 70 children with CP (35 ambulant children in group A and 35 non-ambulant children in group B), their ages were from 7-10 years old. BMD was measured by Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), GMF was measured by GMFM-88, QOL was measured by Quality-of-life Questionnaire for Children with CP (CP QOL-Child). RESULTS: There were significant differences between ambulant children (Group A) and non-ambulant ones (Group B) in DEXA scores, GMFM-88 scale scores, and most of the CP QOL-Child scale scores in favor of the ambulant group (Group A). Moreover there were moderate positive significant correlations between BMD and GMF (p<0.001), between BMD and several tested domains of QOL(p<0.01) and between GMF and several tested domains of QOL in these children (p<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: ambulant children with CP exhibit higher bone mineral density, better gross motor function, and improved quality of life compared to their non-ambulant counterparts. The relation between BMD and GMF, and BMD suggested that improved motor function directly contributes to better bone health and enhanced quality of life. The results provide valuable insights into the interplay between mobility, bone health, and quality of life in children with CP, offering a foundation for future research and clinical interventions.

Summary, etc.	خلفية الدراسة: غالبًا ما يعاني الأطفال المصابون بالشلل الدماغي من ضعف في الوظائف الحركية التي تؤثر على الوظيفة الحركية الكليه ، مما يؤدي إلى قيود في الأنشطة والمشاركة. يمكن أن يكون لهذا الضعف الحركي أيضًا تأثير سلبي على صحة العظام، مما يؤدي إلى انخفاض كثافة العظام وزيادة خطر الإصابة بمضاعفات هيكلية.<br/>الاهداف: مقارنة كثافة العظام (في الفخذ الأيمن والأيسر والعمود الفقري)، والوظيفة الحركية الكليه ونوعية الحياة بين الأطفال القادرين على المشي وغير القادرين على المشي من المصابين بالشلل الدماغي، ودراسة العلاقة بين كثافة العظام، والوظيفة الحركية الكليه، ونوعية الحياة لدى هؤلاء الأطفال.<br/>الطريقة: أُجريت دراسة مقطعية ارتباطية على 70 طفلاً مصاباً بالشلل الدماغي (35 طفلاً قادراً على المشي في المجموعة الأولى، و35 طفلاً غير قادر على المشي في المجموعة الثانية)، تتراوح أعمارهم بين 7-10 سنوات. تم قياس كثافة العظام باستخدام جهاز امتصاص الأشعة السينية ثنائي الطاقة، وتم قياس الوظيفة الحركية الكليه باستخدام مقياس الوظيفة الحركية الكليه، وتم قياس نوعية الحياة باستخدام استبيان نوعية الحياة للأطفال المصابين بالشلل الدماغي.<br/>النتائج: كانت هناك فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين الأطفال القادرين على المشي (المجموعة الأولى) وغير القادرين على المشي (المجموعة الثانية) في درجات كثافة العظام، ودرجات مقياس الوظيفة الحركية الكليه ومعظم درجات استبيان نوعية الحياة، لصالح المجموعة القادرة على المشي (المجموعة الأولى).كما وجدت علاقات ارتباطية إيجابية معتدلة بين كثافة العظام والوظيفة الحركية الكليه، وبين كثافة العظام وعدة مجالات من نوعية الحياة، وبين الوظيفة الحركية الكليه وعدة مجالات من نوعية الحياة لدى هؤلاء الأطفال.<br/>الخلاصه: الأطفال القادرون على المشي من المصابين بالشلل الدماغي يتمتعون بكثافة أعلى في العظام، ووظيفة حركية كليه أفضل، ونوعية حياة أعلى مقارنة بأقرانهم غير القادرين على المشي.العلاقة بين كثافة العظام والوظيفة الحركية الكليه, وبين كثافة العظام ونوعية الحياة، تشير إلى أن تحسين الوظيفة الحركية يساهم بشكل مباشر في تعزيز صحة العظام وتحسين نوعية الحياة.توفر هذه النتائج رؤى قيمة حول التفاعل بين الحركة، صحة العظام، ونوعية الحياة لدى الأطفال المصابين بالشلل الدماغي، مما يقدم أساسًا لأبحاث مستقبلية وتدخلات سريريه.
