| Summary, etc. | The far-right parties have been gaining continued success in Europe generally, and in France and Germany specifically, from the year 2013 to 2017. Their political weight increased in the two countries and their representation in the national parliaments became more considerable. These parties in both countries shared the same set of Eurosceptic, nationalist political programs, and used the immigration or the refugee-crisis to mobilize the citizens to vote for them in the elections, and increase their public support. Despite their Eurosceptic rhetoric and nationalist ideology, they made no obvious impact on the level of the membership of France and Germany with the EU, nor have any further successes been achieved by these far-right parties with regard to changing the policies of their countries towards it. |
