520 #3 - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The study employs a quantitative analysis and develops an econometric model for the Euro Area to examine the
impact of interest rate policies on investment and the difference in effect between conventional and
unconventional interest rate policies. In addition, it incorporates a qualitative analysis with applied case studies
of countries that have experienced both conventional and unconventional interest rate policies. This dual approach
allows for a comparative evaluation, providing insights into the similarities and differences in how these policies
have influenced various economies.
Regarding the qualitative analysis, Japan, Switzerland and Euro Area offer critical lessons in understanding the
broader implications of these policies. Japan's long-standing experience with both conventional and
unconventional interest rate policies illustrates the challenges of stimulating investment in a context marked by
demographic decline and persistent deflation. In contrast, Switzerland's approach to unconventional monetary
policy, particularly in the face of a strong currency, demonstrates how external factors can complicate the intended
effects of such measures. For Euro Area, NIRP helped to combat deflation and briefly boosted inflation after the
sovereign debt crisis. It also encouraged investment by lowering borrowing costs and increasing investment.
Regarding the quantitative analysis, conventional interest rate policies have historically played a significant role
in guiding investment decisions in the Euro Area. However, the recent shift towards unconventional measures,
such as negative interest rate policies, has introduced new dynamics. While these unconventional approaches
have succeeded in lowering borrowing costs and providing liquidity, it is concluded from results that there is a
difference between the two mentioned policies and the effect of conventional interest rate on investment is
greater than the effect of unconventional policy.
520 #3 - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
