| Summary, etc. | Background: Ewing’s sarcoma (ES) is the second most common primary bone tumor. <br/>There is limited research on the treatment outcomes of adult patients with ES, as most <br/>studies focus on pediatric and adolescent populations where the disease is more <br/>prevalent. <br/>Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on the records of patients aged ≥ 18 <br/>years who were diagnosed with ES and primarily treated at the National Cancer <br/>Institute, Cairo University. Generally, the treatment plan consisted of a multiagent <br/>chemotherapy regimen (VDC/IE) interrupted by individualized local control, either <br/>surgery or definitive radiotherapy. The clinicopathological features and treatment <br/>outcomes were reviewed and analyzed, and the Overall Survival (OS) and Event-Free <br/>survival (EFS) were calculated. <br/>Results: From 2012 to 2021, the total number of patients included in this study was 73. <br/>There were 50 males and 23 females, with a median age of 21 years (range 18-55). <br/>Eighteen patients presented with metastasis, mainly in the lungs. The type of local <br/>control was as follows: 35 patients had surgery, and 26 received definitive radiotherapy. <br/>Out of the 55 patients with non-metastatic disease, only 12 patients experienced <br/>recurrence, with local recurrence in two cases, metastasis in five, or both in another five <br/>cases. During the period of the study, 44 patients died, and 29 patients were alive. The <br/>5-year OS was 40.1%, while the 5-year EFS was 32.1%. Multivariate analysis identified <br/>metastasis at presentation, male gender, and Performance status (PS) > I as significant <br/>prognostic factors impacting both OS and EFS. Additionally, pathological response with <br/>tumor necrosis ≥ 90% was found to significantly influence EFS but not OS. <br/>Conclusion: The prognostic factors affecting the OS and EFS in adults were similar to <br/>those in children and adolescents, for example, metastasis at presentation and tumor <br/>size. |

| Summary, etc. | سرطان الأنسجة الرخوة من نوع إيونج هي نوع نادر من الأورام الخبيثة التي تصيب العظام أو الأنسجة الرخوة، وتُعد أكثر شيوعًا بين الأطفال والمراهقين، خصوصًا في الفئة العمرية ما بين 10 إلى 20 عامًا ، بمتوسط عمر 15 عامًا، ونادرًا ما يتم تشخيصها بعد سن الثلاثين.<br/>غالبًا ما تظهر في العظام الطويلة مثل عظم الفخذ أو الحوض ، وتتميز بسرعة انتشارها وإمكانية انتقالها إلى الرئتين أو النخاع العظمي. تشمل الأعراض الشائعة الألم الموضعي، التورم، الحمى، أو فقدان الوزن. يعتمد التشخيص على التصوير الشعاعي (مثل الأشعة السينية والرنين المغناطيسي)، بالإضافة إلى الخزعة النسيجية والفحوصات الجزيئية التي تكشف عن الطفرات الجينية الخاصة بالمرض، مثل اندماج EWSR1-FLI1 .<br/>يُعالج هذا الورم باستخدام علاج متعدد الوسائط، يشمل العلاج الكيميائي المبدئي لتقليص حجم الورم، يليه الجراحة و/أو العلاج الإشعاعي للسيطرة الموضعية، ثم العلاج الكيميائي المساعد. تُعد العوامل التنبؤية مثل وجود انتشار عند التشخيص، حجم الورم، موقعه، استجابة المريض للعلاج الكيميائي، والحالة العامة الصحية للمريض، من العوامل الأساسية التي تؤثر بشكل كبير على فرص النجاة وتحديد الخطة العلاجية المناسبة، حيث ترتبط هذه العوامل ارتباطًا مباشرًا بمعدلات البقاء على قيد الحياة والبقاء دون تطور المرض.<br/>تم أجراء هذه الرسالة الاسترجاعية على 73 مرضى بالغين مصابين بسرطان الأنسجة الرخوة من نوع إيونج, تم علاجهم في المعهد القومي للأورام , جامعة القاهرة, من سنة 2012 الى سنة 2021. |
