| Summary, etc. | Background: Discogenic radiculopathy is defined as low back pain radiating <br/>to the lower limbs. It is associated with one or more neurological signs. This <br/>pain causes loss of function and reduces quality of life and working capability. <br/>Objective: The aim of the study is to investigate the effect of adding forward <br/>head postural correction to lumbopelvic stabilization exercises on pain and <br/>function in lumbar radiculopathy patients. Subjects and methods: forty <br/>patients with lumbar radiculopathy from both sexes participated in this study <br/>after signing institutional consent form. Their age ranged from 25 to 45 years <br/>old. Patients were randomly assigned into two equal groups {control group <br/>(G1) and study group (G2)}. The control group received a selected <br/>physiotherapy program including transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation <br/>(TENS), soft tissue techniques, lumbar spine mobilization and lumbopelvic <br/>stabilization exercises. The study group received forward head posture <br/>correction exercises in addition to the same selected physiotherapy program. <br/>All patients were assessed for craniovertebral angle (CVA), pain intensity by <br/>visual analogue scale (VAS), functional disability by Oswestry disability index <br/>and range of motion (ROM) of straight leg raise. Treatment was conducted <br/>three session per weeks for six weeks. Pre and post assessment for all variables <br/>were done. Results: there was post treatment significant improvement in pain <br/>level, functional performance and straight leg raise (ROM) in the two groups <br/>with a more notable improvement in favor to the study group compared to the <br/>control group. Significant correction of CVA (increased angle) posttreatment in <br/>the study group compared to control group. Conclusion: Adding forward head <br/>postural correction exercises to lumbopelvic stabilization exercises has a <br/>positive effect on decreasing pain level, enhancing function and ROM of <br/>straight leg raise in patients with lumbar radiculopathy. |

| Summary, etc. | شارك في هذه الدراسة 40 مريضًا من كلا الجنسين يعانون من اعتلال الجذور القطنية تراوحت أعمارهم بين 25 و45 عامًا. تم تقسيم المرضى عشوائيًا إلى مجموعتين متساويتين: تلقت المجموعة الضابطة برنامج علاج طبيعي يشمل التحفيز الكهربائي للأعصاب عبر الجلد ، وتقنيات ارخاء الانسجة، وتحريك فقرات العمود الفقري القطني، وتمارين تثبيت الحوض والعمود الفقري القطني بينما تلقت مجموعة الدراسة نفس البرنامج العلاجي مع إضافة تمارين تصحيح إنحناء الرأس للأمام .تم تقييم جميع المرضى من حيث: زاوية الرأس القحفية الفقرية، شدة الألم باستخدام مقياس التقييم البصري التناظري، و الإعاقة الوظيفية باستخدام النسخة العربية لمؤشر أوسويستري للإعاقة، و مدى حركة رفع الساق المستقيمة ، تم تنفيذ العلاج ثلاث جلسات أسبوعيًا لمدة ستة أسابيع، مع تقييم جميع المتغيرات قبل وبعد العلاج. إضافة تمارين تصحيح إنحناء الرأس للأمام إلى تمارين تثبيت الحوض والعمود الفقري القطني لها تأثير إيجابي في تقليل الألم، وتعزيز الوظيفة، وتحسين مدى حركة رفع الساق المستقيمة لدى مرضى إعتلال الجذور القطنية. |
