| Summary, etc. | Background: The leading cause of death in Jordan are cardiovascular diseases, followed by lung cancer as the second most prevalent cause .Functional status may be affected in patients with lung cancer due to symptoms, treatment side effects and overall physical limits. Tailored nursing intervention improves self-management skills, and functional status. Aim: The study aimed to investigate the effect of designed nursing program on functional status among Jordanian patients with lung cancer. Design: A quasi-experimental design (nonequivalent, pre-posttest control group). Tools: Tool I: Demographic and medical data tools (DMDS). Tool II: The functional assessment of cancer therapy (FACT – Head & Neck) version 4. Tool III: Chemotherapy side effects worksheet. Setting: Amman, the capital city of Jordan. Al-Bashir Hospital, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Sample: A convenient sample over 6 consecutive months, that was 60 adult participants with a confirmed diagnosis of primary lung cancer. The sample was randomly assigned to the study and control groups, each was consisting of 30 participants. Results: There were statistical insignificant differences between study and control groups regarding demographic and medical data and before the application of designed nursing program in relation to functional status and chemotherapy side effects. While, after two and three weeks of interventions, there were statistical significant difference between study and control groups regarding functional status and chemotherapy side effects such as fever, fatigue, shortness of breath…etc. Conclusion: The designed nursing program was effective in promoting functional status and reducing chemotherapy side effects among Jordanian patients with lung cancer. Recommendation: Integration of the designed nursing program into oncology units and create a symptom-specific care protocol focused on managing sever side effects. |

| Summary, etc. | السبب الرئيسي للوفاة في الأردن هو أمراض القلب والأوعية الدموية، يليه سرطان الرئة باعتباره ثاني أكثر الأسباب شيوعًا. قد تتأثر الحالة الوظيفية لدى مرضى سرطان الرئة بسبب الأعراض والآثار الجانبية للعلاج والحدود البدنية العامة. يحسن التدخل التمريضي المصمم مهارات الإدارة الذاتية والحالة الوظيفية. الهدف: هدفت الدراسة إلى التحقيق في تأثير برنامج التمريض المصمم على الحالة الوظيفية بين المرضى الأردنيين المصابين بسرطان الرئة. التصميم: تصميم شبه تجريبي (مجموعة ضابطة غير متكافئة قبل وبعد الاختبار). الأدوات: الأداة الأولى: أدوات البيانات الديموغرافية والطبية (DMDS). الأداة الثانية: يوفر FACT-H&N (الإصدار 4) تقييمًا وظيفيًا لعلاج السرطان. الأداة الثالثة: ورقة عمل الآثار الجانبية للعلاج الكيميائي. الإعداد: عمان، عاصمة الأردن. مستشفى البشير، المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية. العينة: عينة مناسبة على مدى 6 أشهر متتالية، والتي كانت 60 مشاركًا بالغًا مصابين بتشخيص مؤكد بسرطان الرئة الأولي. تم توزيع العينة عشوائيًا على مجموعتي الدراسة والضابطة، حيث ضمت كل منهما 30 مشاركًا. النتائج: لم تكن هناك فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين مجموعتي الدراسة والضابطة فيما يتعلق بالبيانات الديموغرافية والطبية وقبل تطبيق برنامج التمريض المصمم فيما يتعلق بالحالة الوظيفية والآثار الجانبية للعلاج الكيميائي. بينما، بعد أسبوعين وثلاثة أسابيع من التدخلات، كان هناك فرق ذو دلالة إحصائية بين مجموعتي الدراسة والضابطة فيما يتعلق بالحالة الوظيفية والآثار الجانبية للعلاج الكيميائي مثل الحمى والتعب وضيق التنفس... إلخ. الاستنتاج: كان برنامج التمريض المصمم فعالًا في تعزيز الحالة الوظيفية وتقليل الآثار الجانبية للعلاج الكيميائي بين مرضى سرطان الرئة الأردنيين. التوصية: دمج برنامج التمريض المصمم في وحدات الأورام وإنشاء بروتوكول رعاية خاص بالأعراض يركز على الآثار الجانبية العالية. |
