| Summary, etc. | Purpose: The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of a specially designed balance board on standing balance in children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy (CP). Subjects and Methods: Forty children with spastic diplegic CP of both genders (23 girls and 17 boys) participated in this study, their ages ranged from 4 to 8 years and they were randomly assigned into two groups of equal number (A and B). Group (A) received a selected physical therapy exercises program with emphasis on facilitation of standing balance using standard balance board while group (B) received the same selected physical therapy exercises program as in group (A) in addition using a specially designed balance board. The participated children were evaluated by HUMAC Balance System [Center of pressure (COP), Eye opened firm surface (EOFS) and Eye closed firm surface (ECFS)] and Pediatric balance scale (PBS) to evaluate standing balance. All participated children received the treatment program 3 sessions / week for 12 successive weeks. Results: The obtained results revealed significant differences of all measured variables when compared between pre and post- treatment in the two groups. Statistical significant differences were also found in post mean values of all measured variables when compared between the two groups after the treatment program in favor of group (B). Conclusion: Training a specially designed balance board as a part of the physical therapy exercises program is more effective for improving standing balance in children with spastic diplegic CP. |

| Summary, etc. | الهدف: أجريت هذه الرسالة لدراسة تأثير لوحة التوازن المصممة خصيصا للتوازن فى الوقوف عند الأطفال المصابين بالشلل الدماغى المزدوج التشنجي. الأشخاص وطرق البحث: اشترك في هذه الرسالة أربعون طفلا من المصابين بالشلل الدماغى المزدوج التشنجي من الجنسين (23 بنت و 17 ولد)، تتراوح أعمارهم السنية ما بين 4 – 8 عاما، كما تم تقسيمهم عشوائيا إلى مجموعتين متساويتين (أ ، ب). المجموعة (أ) تلقوا تمارين العلاج الطبيعي المُختارة مع التركيز على تسهيل التوازن أثناء الوقوف باستخدام لوحة التوازن القياسية، بينما مجموعة (ب) تلقوا نفس تمارين العلاج الطبيعي المُختارة للمجموعة (أ) باستخدام الشكل خاص من لوحة التوازن. تم تقييم الأطفال المشاركين في هذه الرسالة بواسطة نظام التوازن الهيوماك (مركز الضغط، سطح العين الثابت المفتوح وسطح العين الثابت المغلق) ومقياس توازن الأطفال لتقييم التوازن في الوقوف. جميع الأطفال المشاركين تلقوا برنامج العلاج 3 جلسات أسبوعيا لمدة 12 أسبوعا متتاليا. النتائج: أظهرت النتائج وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في جميع المتغيرات المقاسة عند المقارنة قبل وبعد العلاج في المجموعتين. كما وُجد وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية لمتوسطات جميع القيم المتغيرات المقاسة عند المقارنة بين المجموعتين بعد البرنامج العلاجي لصالح المجموعة (ب). الإستنتاج: يعد التدريب بلوحة التوازن المصممة خصيصا كجزء من برنامج تمارين العلاج الطبيعي يكون أكثر فعالية لتحسين التوازن أثناء الوقوف عند الأطفال المصابين بالشلل الدماغى المزدوج التشنجي. |
