| Summary, etc. | Background: Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic inflammatory condition associated with psoriasis, <br/>often accompanied by comorbidities such as obesity. Obesity is thought to contribute to PsA severity <br/>through systemic inflammation, increased joint stress, and altered immune regulation. Despite this <br/>known association, limited research has examined the extent of the relationship between obesity and <br/>PsA from a patient-centered perspective. Objective: To examine the relationship between Psoriatic <br/>Arthritis (PsA) and obesity using the Psoriatic Arthritis Impact of Disease (PSAID-12) Questionnaire <br/>and to assess how age, gender, and body mass index (BMI) influence disease perception. Methods: A <br/>cross-sectional analytical study included 143 patients diagnosed with PsA from Outpatient Clinics of <br/>Cairo teaching hospitals. BMI was measured, and patients completed the PSAID-12 questionnaire, <br/>assessing physical, emotional, and social dimensions of disease impact. Independent samples t-tests <br/>and Pearson's correlation coefficients were used to evaluate gender differences and correlations <br/>between age, BMI, and PSAID-12 domains. SPSS version 20 was used for analysis with a <br/>significance threshold of p < 0.05. Results: The sample consisted of 100 females (69.9%) and 43 <br/>males (30.1%), with a mean age of 38.7 years and a mean BMI of 23.6 kg/m². Females reported <br/>significantly higher scores in pain, fatigue, sleep disturbance, discomfort, anxiety, depression, and <br/>embarrassment/shame, while males showed better coping and functional engagement. Age positively <br/>correlated with coping but negatively with social participation and functional ability. BMI showed a <br/>weak but statistically significant negative correlation with coping and social participation, and a <br/>positive correlation with embarrassment/shame and depression. The total PSAID-12 score was <br/>significantly higher in females and correlated negatively with BMI.Conclusion: The findings suggest <br/>that obesity is associated with increased emotional and physical disease burden in PsA, gender and <br/>age significantly influence symptom perception. Integrating psychosocial support and weight <br/>management into care plans could improve outcomes. |

| Summary, etc. | الخلفية: التهاب المفاصل الصدفي (PsA) هو حالة التهابية مزمنة ترتبط بالصدفية، وغالباً ما يرافقها حالات مصاحبة مثل السمنة. يُعتقد أن السمنة تساهم في شدة المرض من خلال الالتهابات الجهازية، وزيادة الضغط على المفاصل، وتغيرات في تنظيم المناعة. على الرغم من هذه العلاقة المعروفة، فإن البحث حول مدى العلاقة بين السمنة والتهاب المفاصل الصدفي من منظور المريض لا يزال محدودًا.الهدف: دراسة العلاقة بين التهاب المفاصل الصدفي والسمنة باستخدام استبيان تأثير المرض على التهاب المفاصل الصدفي (PSAID-12) وتقييم تأثير العمر والجنس ومؤشر كتلة الجسم على إدراك المرض. الطرق:: دراسة تحليلية عرضية شملت 143 مريضًا تم تشخيصهم بالتهاب المفاصل الصدفي من العيادات الخارجية في القاهرة. تم قياس مؤشر كتلة الجسم، وأكمل المشاركون استبيان PSAID-12 الذي يقيم الأبعاد الجسدية والعاطفية والاجتماعية لتأثير المرض. تم استخدام اختبار t للعينات المستقلة ومعاملات الارتباط لبييرسون لتقييم الفروق بين الجنسين والارتباطات بين العمر ومؤشر كتلة الجسم وأبعاد استبيان PSAID-12. تم استخدام برنامج SPSS النسخة 20 للتحليل مع حد دلالة إحصائية p < 0.05.النتائج: تضمن العينة 100 أنثى (69.9%) و43 ذكرًا (30.1%)، بمتوسط عمر 38.7 سنة ومتوسطمؤشر كتلة الجسمقدره 23.6 كجم/م². أظهرت الإناث نتائج أعلى بشكل ملحوظ في الألم، والتعب، واضطرابات النوم، والانزعاج، والقلق، والاكتئاب، والحرج/الخجل، بينما أظهر الذكور قدرة أفضل على التكيف والمشاركة الوظيفية. كان العمر مرتبطًا إيجابيًا بالتكيف ولكنه مرتبط سلبًا بالمشاركة الاجتماعية والقدرة الوظيفية. أظهر مؤشر كتلة الجسم ارتباطًا سلبيًا ضعيفًا ولكن ذو دلالة إحصائية مع التكيف والمشاركة الاجتماعية، وارتباطًا إيجابيًا مع الحرج/الخجل والاكتئاب. كان إجمالي درجة استبيان PSAID-12 أعلى بشكل ملحوظ في الإناث وكان مرتبطًا سلبًا مع مؤشر كتلة الجسم. الاستنتاج: تشير النتائج إلى أن السمنة مرتبطة بزيادة العبء العاطفي والجسدي للمرض في التهاب المفاصل الصدفي، كما أن الجنس والعمر لهما تأثير كبير على إدراك الأعراض. إن دمج الدعم النفسي والاجتماعي وإدارة الوزن ضمن خطط الرعاية قد يُحسن من النتائج الصحية. |
