Summary, etc.	Background: Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is a common clinical <br/>syndrome characterized by hypersensitive areas of pain in the muscle and <br/>fascia caused by myofascial trigger points. Objective: To investigate the <br/>effect of high intensity laser (HIL) versus ischemic compression (IC) on <br/>neck pain, pressure pain threshold, cervical range of motion (ROM), and <br/>neck disability in patients with myofascial trigger points in the upper <br/>trapezius. Subjects and Methods: Sixty-three male and female patients <br/>suffering from myofascial trigger points in the upper trapezius with age <br/>ranged from (20 -50) years, and body mass index from 19 to 25 Kg/m2 <br/>were selected from Faculty of Physical Therapy, Sinai University out <br/>clinic. They were divided randomly into three groups; Group A (HIL and <br/>conventional physical therapy). Group B (IC and conventional physical <br/>therapy). Group C (conventional physical therapy program only). The <br/>measured parameters were pain assessed by visual analogue scale (VAS), <br/>pressure pain threshold (assessed by Algometer), cervical range of motion <br/>(ROM) assessed by cervical ROM instrument, and cervical disability as <br/>assessed by Arabic version of neck disability index (NDI). Results: <br/>Mixed MANOVA was conducted to compare the effect of time and the <br/>effect of treatment as well as the interaction between time and treatment. <br/>The level of significance was set at p < 0.05. The results showed that HIL <br/>has statistically significant effect on all the measured variables as <br/>compared to IC. The HIL reduced pain as measured by VAS, increased <br/>pain threshold, improved cervical ROM and increased neck functions as <br/>measured by NDI. Conclusion: laser therapy is superior to ischemic <br/>compression in reducing pain intensity, increasing pain threshold, <br/>improving neck ROM and neck functions in patients with trigger points <br/>in the upper trapezius. <br/>Keywords: High Intensity Las

Summary, etc.	الخلفية: متلازمة الألم الليفي العضلي هي متلازمة سريرية شائعة تتميز بمناطق شديدة الحساسية من الألم في العضلات واللفافة الناجمة عن نقاط تحفيز الليفي العضلي. الهدف: دراسة تأثير الليزر عالي الكثافة مقابل الضغط الإقفاري على آلام الرقبة، ومدى ألم الضغط، المدي الحركي للفقرات العنقية وإعاقة الرقبة لدى المرضى الذين يعانون من نقاط تحفيز الليفي العضلي في شبه المنحرف العلوي. المواضيع وطرق العمل: تم اختيار ثلاثة وستين مريضاً من الذكور والإناث يعانون من نقاط تحفيز الليفي العضلي في العضلة شبه المنحرفة العلوية وتتراوح أعمارهم بين (20 -50) سنة من كلية العلاج الطبيعي بجامعة سيناء. وتم تقسيمهم عشوائياً إلى ثلاث مجموعات؛ المجموعة أ (الليزر والعلاج الطبيعي التقليدي). المجموعة ب (الضغط المستمر والعلاج الطبيعي التقليدي). المجموعة ج (برنامج العلاج الطبيعي التقليدي فقط). كانت المتغيرات التى تم قياسها هي الألم الذي تم تقييمه بواسطة المقياس التناظري البصري ومدى تحمل ألم الضغط (التي تم تقييمها بواسطة مقياس الجومتر)، ونطاق حركة الفقرات العنقية الذي تم تقييمه بواسطة أداة قياس المدي الحركي ، والإعاقة العنقية كما تم تقييمها بواسطة النسخة العربية من مؤشر إعاقة الرقبة. النتائج: تم إجراء اختبار MANOVA المختلط لمقارنة تأثير الوقت وتأثير العلاج وكذلك التفاعل بين الوقت والعلاج. تم تحديد مستوى الأهمية عند P <0.05. أظهرت النتائج أن الليزر له تأثير ذو دلالة إحصائية على جميع المتغيرات المقاسة مقارنة بـ الضغط المستمر. أدى الليزر إلى تقليل الألم ، وزيادة مستوى تحمل الالم عند الضغط على العقد العضلية، وتحسين المدي الحركي للفقرات العنقية وزيادة وظائف الرقبة .الاستنتاج: العلاج بالليزر يتفوق على الضغط الإقفاري في تقليل شدة الألم، وزيادة مستوى تحمل الألم عند الضغط على العقد العضلية، وتحسين المدي الحركي الرقبة ووظائف الرقبة في المرضى الذين يعانون من نقاط الزناد في العضلة شبه المنحرفة العلوية.
