| Summary, etc. | Background: Most of children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy have motor disabilities and muscloskeletal dysfunctions that affects respiratory function and trunk control which negatively affect normal daily functions .Purpose:The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory muscle strengthening on trunk control in children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy .Subjects and Methods: Thirty children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy aged from 8to 10 years were selected from the outpatient clinic of Sadat city hospital with impaired trunk control and respiratory problems .The spasticity degree ranged between 1 to 2 according to the modified Ashwarth scale. They were classified into 2 equal groups: control and study. Evaluation included detecting trunk control using scale and spirometer test was done pre and post treatment. Both groups received conventional program designed for diplegic cerebral palsy children in addition to incentive spirometer for study group for 1hour, three times per week for 1 month .<br/> Results: Data analysis revealed no significant difference between both group when comparing the measured variables pre and post treatment results, there was statistically significant improvement in trunk control measurement scale values,maximum inspiratory pressure and maximum expiratory pressure in study group which reflect on respiratory muscles strength and trunk control improvement.<br/>Conclusion: incentive spirometer training can improve respiratory muscle strength which reflect positively on trunk control . |

| Summary, etc. | الخلفيه: الشلل الدماغى هو أفه دماغيه غير متطوره تسبب العديد من الاعاقات عند الاطفال .ذلك يؤثر بشكل اساسى على الخلل الحركى ومشاكل عضليه هيكليه ثانويه مثل خلل الجهاز التنفسى الناتج عن ضعف عضلات الجهاز التنفسى التى لها وظيفه مشتركه فى التنفس والتحكم فى الجذع والتى من خلال تقويتها قد يؤثر بشكل ايجابى على كل من التنفس والتحكم بالجذع. <br/> الغرض من الدراسة:الغرض من الدراسة هو دراسة فعالية تقوية عضلات الجهاز التنفسي في التحكم فى الجذع لدى الاطفال المصابين بالشلل الدماغي المزدوج .<br/>الطرق:تم اختيار ثلاثين طفلاً مصابين بالشلل الدماغي المزدوج ،تتراوح أعمارهم بين 8 و10 سنوات، من العيادة الخارجية بمستشفى مدينة السادات العام، يعانون من ضعف التحكم في الجذع وصعوبات تنفسية. تراوحت درجة التشنج بين 1 و2 وفقًا لمقياس أشوارث المعدل. تم تصنيفهم إلى مجموعتين متساويتين: مجموعة ضابطة ومجموعة دراسة. تضمن التقييم تحديد التحكم في الجذع باستخدام المقياس واختبار مقياس التنفس قبل وبعد العلاج. تلقت كلتا المجموعتين برنامجًا تقليديًا مصممًا لأطفال الشلل الدماغي ثنائي الشلل لمدة ساعة واحدة، بالإضافة إلى مقياس التنفس التحفيزي لمده 15 دقيقه لمجموعة الدراسة ، ثلاث مرات أسبوعيًا لمدة شهر. |
