Summary, etc.	Background: Neisseria meningitides (the meningococcus) is a <br/>commensal of the human nasopharynx in approximately 10% of the <br/>devasting invasive disease such as meningitis and meningococcal <br/>septicemia (meningococcemia). <br/><br/>Study design and objective: The aim of the work is to screen for <br/>carriage of Neisseria Meningitides in healthy asymptomatic children <br/>under 5 years. This was a cross -sectional study conducted on 200 normal <br/>non -infected children under 5 years coming for nutrition clinic, surgery <br/>clinic at Cairo University Children Hospital Nasopharyngeal, <br/>oropharyngeal swab will be collected and used for screening of carriage <br/>of Neisseria Meningitides by PCR 3 samples were ruined. <br/>Results: The mean age is 2.82+-1.39, 96children are females representing <br/>48% while 104 children are males representing 52%. 22 children are PCR <br/>positive for Neisseria meningitides representing 11.2%, while 175 <br/>children had negative PCR representing 88.8% of studied group. <br/>Regarding carrier state among different age groups,6 children under 2 <br/>years confirmed to have organisms by PCR representing 27.3% of <br/>positive cases (6/22) while there were 16 children above 2 years (16/22) <br/>representing 72.7% of positive cases. Among the risk factors studied, <br/>cough in the last month was present in 8 children with PCR positive <br/>representing 36.4% (8/22). Regarding fever, ear pain in last month, only 2 <br/>children for each were present in PCR positive children, representing <br/>9.1% (2/22) for each. Concerning pharyngeal exudates and tonsillectomy <br/>no one with PCR +ve cases displayed them. it is noteworthy to mention <br/>that among the 22 children with PCR +ve, 14 of them had history of <br/>exposure to smoking representing 63.6% (14/22). Recent use of <br/>antibiotics is recorded in 9 out of 22 PCR +ve studied children <br/>representing 40.9% (9/22) 3 ruined samples were detected.

Summary, etc.	النيسرية السحائية (المكورات السحائية) هي كائنات متعايشة مع البلعوم الأنفي البشري تصيب حوالي 10% من السكان، وفي حالات نادرة تدخل مجرى الدم لتسبب أمراضًا غازية مدمرة مثل التهاب السحايا وتسمم الدم بالمكورات السحائية.<br/>الهدف من الدراسة الحالية هو فحص الأطفال غير المصابين الذين تقل أعمارهم عن 5 سنوات، للكشف عن وجود حاملي ميكروب النيسرية السحائية. الدراسة الحالية هي دراسة مراقبة مقطعية أجريت على مدى فترة من يناير 2017 حتى يوليو 2017 على مائتين طفل طبيعيًا غير مرضي تقل أعمارهم عن 5 سنوات، يزورون العيادة الخارجية لمستشفى الأطفال بجامعة القاهرة للحالات غير المعدية مثل التقييم الغذائي والجراحة البسيطة، وسيتم جمع مسحة من البلعوم الأنفي / البلعوم الفموي من هؤلاء الاطفال لفحص مرض النيسرية السحائية عن طريق تفاعل البوليميراز المتسلسل.<br/>وفي الدراسة الحالية تم الكشف عن التهاب السحايا النيسرية في 22 حالة من أصل 197 حالة تمت دراستها بالكامل تمثل 11.2% فيما يتعلق بحالة الناقل بين الفئات العمرية المختلفة، وتم تأكيد وجود الكائن الحي لدى 6 أطفال دون سن 2 سنة عن طريق تفاعل البوليميراز المتسلسل يمثلون 27.3% من الحالات الإيجابية (6/22) بينما كان هناك 16 طفلاً فوق سن 2 سنة (16/22) يمثلون 72.7% من الحالات الإيجابية.<br/>ومن بين عوامل الخطر التي تمت دراستها، كان السعال موجودًا في الشهر الماضي لدى 8 أطفال مع اختبار PCR موجب بنسبة 36.4٪ (8/22).<br/>فيما يتعلق بالحمى وألم الأذن في الشهر الماضي، كان هناك طفلان فقط لكل منهما في الأطفال ذوي تفاعل البوليميراز المتسلسل الموجب، بنسبة 9.1٪ (2/22) لكل منهما. فيما يتعلق بالإفرازات البلعومية واستئصال اللوزتين، لم يظهر أي من حالات تفاعل البوليميراز المتسلسل الموجب. ومن الجدير بالذكر أن من بين 22 طفلاً ذوي تفاعل البوليميراز المتسلسل الموجب، كان لدى 14 منهم تاريخ تعرض للتدخين يمثلون 63.6٪ (14/22). تم تسجيل الاستخدام الحديث للمضادات الحيوية في 9 من أصل 22 طفلاً تمت دراستهم ذوي تفاعل البوليميراز المتسلسل الموجب، بنسبة 40.9٪ (9/22).
