| Summary, etc. | Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with increasing morbidity and <br/>mortality. Patients with microalbuminuria are at high risk for atherosclerosis. It <br/>is thought that comparing the carotid artery intima media thickness, which is <br/>most frequently affected by atherosclerosis, by measuring and comparing the <br/>renal resistive index, may be beneficial for early diagnosis and treatment of <br/>diabetic complications. <br/>Aim of work: Our study aims to assess the relationship between renal resistive <br/>index and carotid intima media thickness in diabetic patient with micro <br/>albuminuria for early detection of diabetic vascular complications. <br/>Methods: we investigated the relationship between renal resistive index (RI) <br/>and carotid intima media thickness (CIMT) in 40 diabetic patients with micro-<br/>albuminuria (A/C 30-300 mg/d), through measuring renal RI as well as carotid <br/>intima media thickness and comparing them with the patients' clinical data <br/>including: the patients' age, diabetes duration, HbA1c, A/C and creatinine levels. <br/>Results: Both renal RI and CIMT correlate positively with age, diabetes <br/>duration and creatinine level.On the other side renal RI and CIMT showed no <br/>significant correlation with HbA1c and A/C levels. Significant positive <br/>correlation was found between renal RI and CIMT. <br/>Conclusion: Significant relation was found between CIMT and renal RI, an <br/>increase in RRI is in parallel with the increase in CIMT in diabetic <br/>microalbuminuric patients. Both markers can be used for early detection of <br/>vascular complications in diabetic patient as they reflect vascular damage and <br/>cardiovascular risk in diabetes. Also, renal RI can be used in early detection of <br/>atherosclerosis in microalbuminuric patients with normal carotid intima media <br/>thickness. |

| Summary, etc. | مرض السكري مرض مزمن يزيد من معدلات الاعتلال والوفيات. المرضى الذين يعانون من البيلة الزلالية الدقيقة أكثر عرضة لخطر الإصابة بتصلب الشرايين. يُعتقد أن مقارنة سمك الغلالة الباطنة والغلالة الوسطانية للشريان السباتي- والذي يتأثر كثيرًا بتصلب الشرايين-مع مؤشر مقاومة الشريان الكلوي ، قد يكون مفيدًا للتشخيص المبكر وعلاج مضاعفات مرض السكري.<br/>زيادة سمك جدار الشريان السباتي يعد مؤشر جيد على تطور تصلب الشرايين ,كذلك تعتبر زيادةمقاومة الشريان الكلوي مؤشر على تصلب الشرايين في الأوعية الصغيرة.<br/>بحثت العديد من الدراسات دور البيلة الزلالية الدقيقة ,سمك جدار الشريان السباتي ومؤشر المقاومة الكلوية كلا على حدى كمؤشرات لتصلب الشرايين ومضاعفات القلب والأوعية الدموية.<br/>الهدف من دراستنا هو تقييم العلاقة بين مؤشر المقاومة الكلوية وسمك جدار الشريان السباتي لدى مرضى السكري الذين يعانون من البيلة الزلالية الدقيقة للكشف المبكر عن مضاعفات الأوعية الدموية.<br/>لقد شملت دراستنا 40 مريضا بالسكر يعانون من البيلة الزلالية الدقيقة (A/C 30-300 mg/d(، تم قياس المقاومة الشريانية للشريان الكلوي وكذلك سمك الغلالة الباطنة والغلالة الوسطانية للشريان السباتي ودراسة العلاقة بينهم وكذلك مقارنتهم بالبيانات السريرية للمرضى بما في ذلك : عمر المريض ، مدة الاصابة بالسكر ،معدل السكر التراكمي ،نسبة الكرياتنين في الدم والبروتين الدقيق فى البول.تم تحويل المرضى لوحدة السونار بقسم الاشعة في القصر العيني عن طريق عيادات الغدد الصماء والسكر بالقصر العيني.جميع المرضى توافق معايرنا للادراج والاستبعاد.<br/>جميع المرضي المختارون تم فحصهم باستخدام مجس منحني الاضلاع ثم خضعوا للفحص بالسونار لقياس مؤشر المقاومة الكلوية . كذلك تم استخدام المجس الخطي لقياس سمك جدار الشريان السباتي.<br/>أظهرت نتائجنا أن كلاً من مؤشر المقاومة الكلوية وسمك جدار الشريان السباتي يرتبطان ارتباطًا إيجابيًا بالعمر ،مدة مرض السكري ومستوى الكرياتينين في الدم. على الجانب الأخر لم يثبت وجود علاقة بين المقاومة الكلوية وسمك جدار الشريان السباتي مع السكر التراكمي أو نسبة البروتين الدقيق في البول.<br/>كشفت دراستنا عن علاقة إيجابية بين المقاومة الكلوية وسمك جدار الشريان السباتي لذلك يمكن استخدامهم معا للكشف المبكر عن مضاعفات الأوعية الدموية في مرضى السكر.<br/>قد توافقت نتائجنا مع العديد من الدراسات المنشورة سابقًا والتي بحثت دور المقاومة الكلوية وسمك جدار الشريان السباتي في الاكتشاف المبكر لتصلب الشرايين ومضاعفات الأوعية الدموية. |
