| Summary, etc. | This study explores how governance influences the relationship between a country's productive structure, quantified by the Economic Complexity Index (ECI), and well-being, measured by the Social Progress Index (SPI). Using system-GMM on data from 75 developing countries (2011–2021), the key findings are as follows. (1) Both economic complexity and governance independently enhance well-being. (2) Governance significantly moderates the economic complexity-quality of life link. (3) The results are robust across multiple governance specifications, including individual indicators and clustered categories (general, political, economic, and institutional governance). (4) Critical governance thresholds for maximizing well-being were identified, such as government effectiveness (0.8435), rule of law (1.846), and control of corruption (1.717), all within attainable ranges. (5) Governance and economic complexity are both necessary to improve well-being below these thresholds, while sustaining positive effects beyond them requires complementary policies. This study underscores the importance of governance reforms and economic complexity in driving social progress, and provides actionable insights for policy design in developing nations. |

| Summary, etc. | تهدف هذه الدراسة إلي بحث تأثير الحوكمة على العلاقة بين الهيكل الإنتاجي للدولة، الذي يُقاس بمؤشر التعقيد الاقتصادي، وجودة الحياة، الذي يُقاس بمؤشر التقدم الاجتماعي باستخدام منهجية العزوم المعممة (System-GMM) على بيانات 75 دولة نامية خلال الفترة (2011–2021)، وقد خلصت الدراسة إلى النتائج الرئيسية التالية: يعزز كل من التعقيد الاقتصادي والحوكمة جودة الحياة بشكل مستقل، تؤدي الحوكمة دورًا جوهريًا في توسط العلاقة بين التعقيد الاقتصادي وجودة الحياة: ظلت نتائج الدراسة قوية ومتسقة عبر مختلف محددات الحوكمة، سواء من خلال المؤشرات الفردية أو الفئات المجمعة (الحوكمة العامة، السياسية، الاقتصادية، والمؤسسية)، تم تحديد عتبات حوكمة حرجة لتعظيم جودة الحياة، مثل كفاءة الحكومة (0.8435)، سيادة القانون (1.846)، والسيطرة على الفساد (1.717)، والتي تقع جميعها ضمن نطاقات قابلة للتحقيق، يعد كل من الحوكمة والتعقيد الاقتصادي ضروريين لتحسين جودة الحياة دون هذه العتبات، بينما يتطلب الحفاظ على الآثار الإيجابية بعدها سياسات تكميلية. تؤكد هذه الدراسة على أهمية الإصلاحات المؤسسية وتعزيز التعقيد الاقتصادي في دفع التقدم الاجتماعي، وتقدم رؤى عملية لصياغة السياسات في الدول النامية. |
