Summary, etc.	Purpose: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a prevalent compressive <br/>peripheral neuropathy associated with Breast Cancer Related <br/>Lymphedema (BCRL) that causes pain, numbness, loss of motor <br/>function. Objective: This study aimed to assess the impact of Gallium <br/>Arsenide laser (Ga-As) on CTS in post-mastectomy lymphedema. <br/>Methods: Fifty-two female patients aged from 40 to 60 years, suffered <br/>from CTS resulted from post mastectomy lymphedema. They were <br/>randomly allocated into two equal groups number. Study group were <br/>given Ga-As, medical treatment and routine physical therapy. Control <br/>group were given medical treatment with routine physical therapy <br/>program only, three sessions weekly for six weeks. Routine physical <br/>therapy program included ROM exercises, stretching, strengthening <br/>exercises, nerve, tendon glide exercises and Complete Decongestive <br/>Therapy (CDT) for lymphedema. Limb size, Symptom Severity Scale <br/>(SSS), Functional Status Scale (FSS) and grip strength were assessed <br/>prior to and post-treatment using volumetric measurement, Arabic version <br/>of Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ) and hand held <br/>dynamometer. Results: There was substantial reduction in limb size, <br/>SSS, FSS scores and significant increase in grip strength post-treatment <br/>in both groups (P<0.001). Between groups comparison showed non-<br/>substantial difference in edema size post-treatment, whereas there were <br/>substantial difference in post-treatment mean values of SSS, FSS and grip <br/>strength(P<0.001) in study group compared to control group. Results also <br/>showed non-significant positive moderate correlation post treatment <br/>between the decrease in edema size, decrease in SSS and FSS scores in <br/>the study group while non-significant negative very weak correlation in <br/>control group. Conclusion: Ga-As is effective for decreasing CTS <br/>symptoms, improving hand function and grip strength in post mastectomy <br/>lymphedema.

Summary, etc.	الغرض :متلازمة النفق الرسغي هي اعتلال عصبي محيطي ضاغط شائع مرتبطبالتورم الليمفاوي الناتج عن سرطان الثدي وتسبب الألم، والخدر، وفقدان الوظيفة الحركية. الهدف: هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تقييم تأثير ليزر جاليوم أرسينيد على مرضى متلازمة النفق الرسغي الذين يعانون من التورم الليمفاوي بعد إستئصال الثدي. الطرق: إثنان وخمسون مريضة تتراوح أعمارهن بين ٤٠ و ٦٠عامًا، يعانين من متلازمة النفق الرسغي الناتجة عن التورم الليمفاوي بعد إستئصال الثدي. تم اختيارهن عشوائيًا وتوزيعهن إلى مجموعتين متساويتين في العدد. تم إعطاء مجموعة الدراسة ليزر جاليوم أرسينيد ، والعلاج الطبي والعلاج الطبيعي الروتيني. تم إعطاء المجموعة الضابطة العلاج الطبي مع برنامج العلاج الطبيعي الروتيني فقط، ثلاث جلسات أسبوعيًا لمدة ستة أسابيع. تم إعطاء جميع المرضى علاج التصريف الليمفاوي الكامل للتورم الليمفاوي . تم قياس حجم الطرف، قياس شدة الأعراض، قياس الحالة الوظيفية وقوة قبضة اليد قبل وبعد العلاج باستخدام مقياس الحجم، النسخة العربية من إستبيان بوسطن لمتلازمة النفق الرسغي ومقياس قوة قبضة اليد. النتائج: كان هناك انخفاض كبير في حجم الأطراف ، قياس شدة الأعراض، قياس الحالة الوظيفية, وزيادة ملحوظة في قوة القبضة بعد العلاج في كلا المجموعتين. أظهرت المقارنة بين المجموعات عدم وجود فرق جوهري في حجم التورم الليمفاوي بعد العلاج، في حين كانت هناك فروق جوهرية في القيم المتوسطة بعد العلاج لدرجات قياس شدة الأعراض، قياس الحالة الوظيفية وقوة القبضة في مجموعة الدراسة مقارنة بالمجموعة الضابطة. أظهرت النتائج أيضًا وجود إرتباط إيجابي معتدل ليس بكبير بعد العلاج بين إنخفاض حجم التورم الليمفاوي وإنخفاض درجات قياس شدة الأعراض، قياس الحالة الوظيفية في مجموعة الدراسة، بينما كان هناك إرتباط سلبي ضعيف جدًا غير ذي دلالة إحصائية في مجموعة التحكم.
