| Summary, etc. | Background: Cervical spondylosis is a common age-related degenerative condition of the cervical spine, affecting up to 85% of patients over the age of 60. Manual therapy techniques, such as Muscle Energy Technique and Mulligan Mobilization Technique, are frequently utilized in physical therapy for managing cervical spondylosis-related impairments, yet their comparative effectiveness remains unclear. Purpose: This study aimed to compare the effects of Muscle Energy Technique and Mulligan Mobilization Technique on pain, cervical range of motion, proprioception, and functional disability in patients with cervical spondylosis. Methods: This study is a double-blinded comparative study. 40 patients aged 40-60 years with chronic cervical spondylosis were randomly assigned to two groups. Group A (n=20) received Muscle Energy Technique, and Group B (n=20) received Mulligan Mobilization Technique, each in conjunction with active exercises over four weeks. Outcome measures included pain by Visual Analogue Scale, range of motion, and proprioception by the Cervical Range of Motion device, and functional disability by the Arabic version of the Neck Disability Index. Results: Within-group analysis revealed significant improvements across all measured variables in both groups following the intervention (p = 0.0001). However, post-treatment comparison revealed statistically significant improvements in favour of the Mulligan Mobilization Technique group in pain reduction, functional disability, cervical range of motion (extension, rotation, and side bending), and proprioception (target head position in extension and side bending) (p = 0.0001). (No significant differences were observed between groups in flexion range of motion (p = 0.407) or neutral head position proprioception) (Right rotation p = 0.826; left rotation p = 0.861). Conclusion: Both Muscle Energy Technique and Mulligan Mobilization Technique effectively improved outcomes in cervical spondylosis patients; however, Mulligan Mobilization Technique showed more significant improvement in pain, functional disability, range of motion, and proprioception. |

| Summary, etc. | الخلفية: داء التهاب فقرات الرقبة هو حالة تنكسيه شائعة مرتبطة بتقدم العمر تصيب العمود الفقري العنقي، حيث تؤثر على ما يصل إلى ٨٥٪ من الأفراد الذين تجاوزوا سن الستين. تُستخدم تقنيات العلاج اليدوي مثل تقنية الطاقة العضلية وتقنية موليجان بشكل متكرر في العلاج الطبيعي للتحكم بالمضاعفات المرتبطة بداء التهاب فقرات الرقبة ومع ذلك، المقارنة بين التقنيتين لا يزال غير واضح. الغرض من الدراسة: مقارنة فعالية تقنية الطاقة العضلية وتقنية موليجان فيما يتعلق بالألم، الإعاقة الوظيفية، المدي الحركي للرقبة، واستقبال الحس العميق لدى مرضى التهاب فقرات الرقبة. الأشخاص والأساليب: أُجريت هذه الدراسة كدراسة مقارنة مزدوجة التعمية، شملت ٤٠ مريضا تتراوح أعمارهم بين ٤٠و ٦٠ عاما مصابا بداء التهاب فقرات الرقبة المزمن في الدراسة. تم توزيعهم بشكل عشوائي إلى مجموعتين. تلقى ٢٠ مريضا تقنية الطاقة العضلية بالإضافة إلى البرنامج التقليدي (المجموعة أ). تلقى ٢٠ مريضا المعالجة باستخدام تقنية موليجان بالإضافة إلى البرنامج التقليدي (المجموعة ب) لمدة ٤ أسابيع، تم تقييم جميع المرضي باستخدام مقياس درجة الألم لقياس آلام الرقبة، النسخة العربية من مقياس إعاقة الرقبة لتقييم مستوى الإعاقات، وجهاز المدي الحركي للرقبة لقياس مدي حركة الرقبة واستقبال الحس العميق. النتائج: أظهرت نتائج التحليل داخل المجموعات تحسنًا ذي دلالة احصائية في جميع المتغيرات المقاسة لدى كلتا المجموعتين بعد تطبيق البرنامج العلاجي(0.0001). إلا أن المقارنة بين المجموعتين بعد العلاج أظهرت وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية لصالح مجموعة العلاج باستخدام تقنية موليجان وذلك من حيث تقليل شدة الألم، وتحسين مستوى الإعاقة الوظيفية، وزيادة مدى الحركة في الرقبة (التمدد، الدوران، والانثناء الجانبي) ، بالإضافة إلى تحسن في القدرة على الإحساس الموضعي (وضع الرأس المستهدف أثناء التمدد والانثناء الجانبي)(0.0001). في المقابل، لم تُسجل فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين المجموعتين في مدى حركة الثني (0.407) أو في الإحساس الموضعي لوضع الرأس الحيادي الدوران لليمين (0.826) والدوران للخلف (0.861) . الخلاصة: أثبتت كل من تقنية الطاقة العضلية وتقنية موليجان فعاليتها في علاج المرضى الذين يعانون من داء التهاب فقرات الرقبة. إلا أن تقنية موليجان أظهرت تحسنًا أكثر دلالة من حيث تقليل الألم، وتحسين الإعاقة الوظيفية، وزيادة مدى الحركة، وتحسين الإحساس الموضعي. |
