| Summary, etc. | The location-based services has become a pivotal aspect for Telecom operators. This Thesis provides novel deep learning approaches for robust outdoor localization in 4G networks. We present three different neural networks tailored for outdoor localization in large scale area. A feature selection module is introduced, employing correlation and Chi-squared algorithms, resulting in a substantial 20.6% reduction in computation. Two innovative data augmenters are used, One-to-Many and AngleNoiseSynth, extending the dataset and amplifying the system’s overall performance. The introduction of the AngleNoiseSynth augmenter further refines the dataset by considering user movement angles and system noise. Best results are achieved by BiOutLoc, a novel application of a Bi-LSTM model in a large-scale outdoor urban area of 45 km2, with a median localization accuracy of 9.4 meters – surpassing existing systems by 31% while reducing parameters by 67%. The thesis also concludes with a demonstration of transfer learning, finetuning BiOutLoc parameters from one area to another, resulting in an 18% accuracy enhancement and a remarkable 71% reduction in training time compared to conventional approaches. |
