| Summary, etc. | Background: Bronchial arteries, although small in caliber, are vital structures supplying oxygenated blood to the lung parenchyma, bronchi, and visceral pleura. Typically arising from the descending thoracic aorta. <br/>These arteries assume a key role in pathological conditions such as chronic pulmonary thromboembolism and hemoptysis. In disease states, hypertrophied bronchial arteries can account for up to 30% of cardiac output, compared to their normal 1%, and their thin walls under systemic pressure make them prone to rupture, leading to airway bleeding.<br/>Multi-detector CT (MDCT) enables non-invasive visualization of dilated bronchial arteries and collateral networks, aiding in the planning of interventional procedures like bronchial artery embolization (BAE). <br/><br/>Objectives and aim of work: Assessment of the bronchial arteries regarding their origin, size, number and branching pattern using different Multi-detector CT techniques as CT pulmonary angiography, CT aortography and contrast enhanced CT in cases of suspected chronic pulmonary thromboembolism and hemoptysis cases.<br/>Methods: This cross sectional analytical study included 139 patients; 70 males (50.4%) and 69 females (49.6%), their ages ranged from 7 to 82 with a mean age of 40.9 years. <br/>Patients with hemoptysis (67 patients) and cases of suspected chronic (72 patients) pulmonary embolism were referred from the pulmonology department and outpatient clinics in Kasr Al-Aini to the radiology department to perform CTPA, CT aortography and CECT according to the clinician request.<br/>Results: We found that different CT techniques can detect bronchial arteries. Dilated bronchial arteries were seen in 83.8 % of cases of chronic pulmonary thromboembolism, and bronchial arteries were dilated in nearly half of cases of hemoptysis.<br/>Conclusion: Different CT techniques (CTPA, CTA and CECT) were effective in detection of bronchial arteries which are important in diagnosis of chronic pulmonary thromboembolism and non-invasive method for the diagnosis of the cause of hemoptysis. |

| Summary, etc. | هذه دراسة تحليلية مستعرضة شملت ١٣٩ مريضًا؛ ٧٠ ذكرًا (٥٠٫٤٪) و٦٩ أنثى (٤٩٫٦٪)، تراوحت أعمارهم بين ٧ إلى ٨٢ سنة بمتوسط عمر ٤٠٫٩ سنة.<br/>أُجري التصوير المقطعي المحوسب للأوعية الرئوية ، وتصوير الشريان الأورطي بالتصوير المقطعي، والتصوير المقطعي المحوسب مع التباين للمرضى المصابين بنفث الدم (٦٧ مريضًا) وحالات الاشتباه في الانصمام الرئوي المزمن (٧٢ مريضًا)، وذلك بناءً على طلب الطبيب المعالج.<br/>تمت دراسة الشرايين القصبية من حيث الحجم، المنشأ، العدد، ونمط التفرع.<br/>كشف التصوير المقطعي المحوسب للأوعية الرئوية عن الشرايين القصبية في ١٠٨ من أصل ١٢١ حالة بنسبة كشف بلغت ٨٩٫٢٪.<br/>كشف تصوير الشريان الأورطي بالتصوير المقطعي عن الشرايين القصبية في جميع الحالات الـ١٥ بنسبة كشف بلغت ١٠٠٪.<br/>كشف التصوير المقطعي المحوسب مع التباين عن الشرايين القصبية في الحالات الثلاث جميعها بنسبة كشف بلغت ١٠٠٪.<br/>الانصمام الرئوي المزمن<br/>من بين ٣٧ حالة تم تحويلها بتشخيص انصمام رئوي مزمن، أظهرت ٣٦ حالة (حوالي ٩٧٪) وجود أوعية جانبية متوسعة، من بينها ٣١ حالة ظهرت بها شرايين قصبية متوسعة، وُجدت حالة واحدة فقط (٢٫٧٪) دون أي توسع في الأوعية الجانبية.<br/>وهذا يُبرز أهمية الشرايين القصبية في تشخيص حالات الانصمام الرئوي المزمن.<br/><br/>من بين ٧٢ حالة اشتباه في الانصمام الرئوي المزمن، وُجدت ٤ حالات (٥٫٦٪) بها توسع في الشريان الرئوي دون وجود انصمام رئوي أو أوعية جانبية متوسعة.<br/>ويُبرز ذلك فائدة تقييم الشرايين القصبية في التمييز بين ارتفاع ضغط الدم الرئوي الناتج عن الانصمام الرئوي المزمن وبين الأسباب الأخرى مثل ارتفاع ضغط الدم الرئوي مجهول السبب.<br/>في دراستنا، من بين الحالات المحولة ، وُجدت ٥ حالات انصمام رئوي حاد، ولم تُظهر أي منها توسعًا في الشرايين القصبية أو في الشريان الرئوي.<br/>ويُشير ذلك إلى أهمية الشرايين القصبية في التفريق بين حالات الانصمام الرئوي المزمن والحاد، خصوصًا في الحالات غير الواضحة.<br/>نفث الدم<br/>في هذه الدراسة، وُجدت شرايين قصبية متوسعة في ٣٢ من أصل ٦٧ مريضًا مصابًا بنفث الدم (٤٧٫٨٪)، أي أن نصف حالات نفث الدم تقريبًا أظهرت توسعًا في الشرايين القصبية. |
