| Summary, etc. | The current study aims to explore Biblical allusions as an aspect of <br/>intertextuality between the sacred text and literary works, alongside their <br/>translations into different cultural contexts. In situations where culture and <br/>sacredness collide, translators face numerous challenges in rendering the sacred <br/>text, as there is always a gap between cultures, including religious differences. <br/>Translators may favor one culture over another to address gaps in the target <br/>audience's knowledge or to avoid potential "cultural bumps." The purpose of this <br/>study is to identify the strategies employed by translators to navigate these <br/>challenges, as well as to examine the impact of these strategies on the fidelity to <br/>the meaning of the source text and its reception by the target audience. To achieve <br/>these objectives, the study adopts Ritva Leppihalme’s framework for translating <br/>allusions. For analysis, the study focuses on John Milton’s Paradise Lost and its <br/>Arabic translation by Muhammed Enani. |
