Summary, etc. Arachidonic acid (ARA) is primordial for the proper functioning of human body, through maintaining the integrity of nervous, muscular, and immune systems functions. Production of this essential fatty acid can be achieved by the oleaginous fungus, Mortierella alpina. The identification of M. alpina, which was sourced from Assiut University, Egypt, was confirmed via the sequencing of the ITS region which is considered as DNA barcoding and the mRNA of the elongation enzyme. Culture conditions, including the use of glucose and peptone in liquid media as carbon and nitrogen sources, along with various micronutrients, were optimized to improve biomass and ARA production. Shake flask cultivation at 25°C for 7 days yielded approximately 0.570 g of ARA per liter of culture. Treatment of Mortierella alpina with the mutagen 5-fluorouracil, along with screening using octyl gallate-supplemented glucose-yeast-agar plates, followed by incubation at 25°C, then 20°C, and aging at 10°C, extraction following the Folch method, and isolation via urea exclusion resulted in a yield exceeding 3 g of ARA per liter of culture, indicating its potential suitability for commercial production and schistosome control.

Summary, etc. يعتبر حمض الأراكيدونيك (ARA) أساسيًا للحفاظ على الجهاز العصبي والعضلي والمناعي. يمكن إنتاج هذا الحمض الدهني الأساسي عن طريق الفطر الزيتي Mortierella alpina. تم التأكد من M. alpina - والذي تم الحصول عليه من جامعة أسيوط، مصر- من خلال تسلسل منطقة (ITS) التي تعتبر بمثابة ترميز (DNA) وتسلسل (mRNA) لإنزيم الاستطالة. تم تحسين ظروف الزراعة الفطرية، عن طريق استخدام الجلوكوز والببتون كمصادر للكربون والنيتروجين، إلى جانب المغذيات الدقيقة المختلفة، لتحسين إنتاج الكتلة الحيوية والـ (ARA). أنتجت الزراعة الفطرية عند درجة حرارة 25 درجة مئوية لمدة 7 أيام حوالي 0.570 جرام من ((ARA لكل لتر من المزرعة. حدوث طفرة ل (Mortierella alpina) باستخدام 5-فلورويوراسيل، وباستخدام الجلوكوز والخميرة المكملة بأوكتيل جالات، يليها الحضانة عند 25 درجة مئوية، ثم 20 درجة مئوية، وعند 10 درجات مئوية، ادي إلى إنتاج يتجاوز 3 جرام من (ARA) لكل لتر من المزرعة، مما يشير إلى ملاءمتها للإنتاج التجاري.
