| Summary, etc. | Introduction: Sepsis is accompanied by severe metabolic alterations. Acute <br/>and chronic inflammatory processes during sepsis there are important changes in lipid <br/>profile and metabolism. <br/>Aim of the study: to describe the assessment in lipid profile of critically ill <br/>patients admitted to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with sepsis and their <br/>relation to the clinical status and outcome. <br/>Methods: This was a cross sectional study on 109 children who were admitted <br/>in PICU, faculty of medicine, Cairo University and diagnosed to have sepsis divided <br/>in to two groups septic and non-septic. The causes of admission of sepsis were <br/>defined along with anthropometric measurements, screening of triglycerides, signs of <br/>pancreatitis, assessment of mortality, PRISM score, PSOFA score and labs. <br/>Results: 50% patients had sepsis. PRISM and PSOFA were worse in septic <br/>group. Hypertriglyceridemia represents 33.1%. Risk factors of hypertriglyceridemia <br/>included mechanical ventilation, central line, advanced grade of PRISM score, <br/>primary causes of sepsis, LDL, blood culture positivity. <br/>Conclusion: Hypertriglyceridemia are more common in septic group <br/>associated with pancreatitis. |

| Summary, etc. | يصاحب الإنتان تغيرات أيضية حادة. تحدث تغيرات مهمة في مستوى الدهون والأيض خلال العمليات الالتهابية الحادة والمزمنة أثناء الإنتان.<br/>كان الهدف من هذه الدراسة هو وصف التغيرات في مستوى الدهون لدى مرضى العناية المركزة للأطفال المصابين بالإنتان وعلاقتها بالحالة السريرية والنتائج.<br/>أجريت هذه الدراسة المقطعية على 109 أطفال تم إدخالهم إلى وحدة العناية المركزة للأطفال بكلية الطب بجامعة القاهرة وتم تشخيص إصابتهم بالإنتان، وقسموا إلى مجموعتين: مصابين بالإنتان وغير مصابين به. هدفت الدراسة إلى تحديد أسباب دخول الأطفال إلى وحدة العناية المركزة للأطفال، وإجراء القياسات الأنثروبومترية والفحوصات المخبرية، وفحص الدهون الثلاثية وعلامات التهاب البنكرياس. وتقييم الوفيات باستخدام مقياس PRISMودرجة PSOFA<br/>كانت نتائج هذه الدراسة علي النحو التالي: أجريت دراستنا على 109 مرضى، 50% منهم مصابون بتسمم الدم، وارتفاع نسبة الدهون الثلاثية في الدم يمثل 33.1%. عوامل خطر ارتفاع نسبة الدهون الثلاثية تشمل التهوية الميكانيكية، القسطرة المركزية، الدرجة المتقدمة من PRISM, PSOFAوالأسباب الرئيسية لتسمم الدم، LDL، إيجابية مزرعة الدم. كان متقدمين في المجموعة المصابة بتسمم الدم.<br/>الخلاصة هي أن ارتفاع نسبة الدهون الثلاثية في الدم أكثر شيوعًا في المجموعة المصابة بتسمم الدم المرتبط بالتهاب البنكرياس. |
