| Summary, etc. | Background: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a heterogeneous lung condition characterized by chronic respiratory symptoms (dyspnea, cough, sputum production and/or exacerbations) due to abnormalities of the airways (bronchitis, bronchiolitis) and/or alveoli (emphysema) that cause persistent, often progressive, airflow obstruction.<br/>Purpose of the Study: The purpose of this study was designed to compare the effect of chest mobility exercises and PNF stretching on improving functional capacity and pulmonary functions in patients with COPD.<br/>Materials and methods: A total of 60 patients with COPD participated in this study with age from 40 to 50 years old; in the period from January 2023 to December 2023 all patients were being in moderate stage of COPD (GOLD II). They were recruited from cardiopulmonary department of Kasr El Ainy Hospitals. They were assigned into 2 equal groups; group (A) consisted of 30 patients received chest mobility exercise and group (B) consisted of 30 patients received proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching. The study conducted in the same department, the effectiveness of interventions was assessed through parameters of pulmonary function test, 6MWT, CAT questionnaire, VAS, and tape measurement<br/>Results: The current study demonstrated statistically significant improvement for both groups but there was significant difference between group A and group B group in post treatment sessions in favor of Group (A), There was a statistical significant increase of FEV1/FVC by 4% post-treatment. Compared to group (B): in which There was a statistical significant increase of FEV1/FVC by 3% post-treatment (p = 0.004).<br/>Conclusion: It could be concluded that both chest mobility exercises and PNF stretching could improve functional capacity and pulmonary functions in patients with COPD. |

| Summary, etc. | الغرض: مرض الانسداد الرئوي المزمن هو حالة رئوية غير متجانسة تتميز بأعراض تنفسية مزمنة (ضيق التنفس، والسعال، وإنتاج البلغم و/أو تفاقم الحالة) بسبب تشوهات في مجرى الهواء (التهاب الشعب الهوائية، التهاب القصيبات الهوائية) و/أو الحويصلات الهوائية (انتفاخ الرئة) التي تسبب انسدادًا مستمرًا وتقدميًا في تدفق الهواء.<br/>الاهداف : صُممت هذه الدراسة لمقارنة تأثير تمارين تحريك الصدر و التنبيه العضلى العصبي التمددي على تحسين القدرة الوظيفية والوظائف الرئوية لدى مرضى الانسداد الرئوي المزمن.<br/>المواد والطرق: شارك في هذه الدراسة 60 مريضًا يعانون من مرض الانسداد الرئوي المزمن تتراوح أعمارهم بين 40 و50 عامًا؛في الفترة من يناير 2023 الى ديسمبر2023 وكان جميع المرضى في مرحلة متوسطة من مرض الانسداد الرئوي المزمن (GOLD II). تم تجنيدهم من قسم القلب والرئة بمستشفيات قصر العيني وتم تنفيذ البحث في نفس المكان . تم توزيعهم على مجموعتين متساويتين؛ المجموعة (أ) تتكون من 30 مريضًا تلقوا تمارين تحريك الصدر والمجموعة (ب) تتكون من 30 مريضًا تلقوا تمددًا لتسهيل العصب العضلي الحسي العميق (PNF). تم تقييم فعالية التدخلات من خلال معايير اختبار وظائف الرئة واختبار المشي لمدة 6 دقائق واستبيان CAT وVAS وقياس الشريط<br/>النتائج: أظهرت الدراسة الحالية تحسنًا كبيرًا إحصائيًا لكلا المجموعتين ولكن كان هناك فرق كبير بين المجموعة (أ) والمجموعة (ب) في جلسات ما بعد العلاج لصالح المجموعة (أ)، كانت هناك زيادة كبيرة إحصائيًا في FEV1 / FVC بنسبة 4٪ بعد العلاج. مقارنة بالمجموعة (ب): حيث كانت هناك زيادة كبيرة إحصائيًا في FEV1 / FVC بنسبة 3٪ بعد العلاج (ص = 0.004).<br/>الخلاصة: يمكن الاستنتاج أن كلا من تمارين تحريك الصدر و التنبيه العضلى العصبي التمددي يمكن أن يحسن القدرة الوظيفية والوظائف الرئوية لدى المرضى المصابين بمرض الانسداد الرئوي المزمن. |
