| Summary, etc. | Aim of the study: The purpose of the study was conducted to compare between the effect of foot reflexology and acupressure on sleep disturbances and hot flashes in postmenopausal women. Subjects: Fifty-four postmenopausal women suffering from postmenopausal sleep disturbances and hot flashes were selected from out-patient clinic of gynaecology department of Diarb Nigm Central Hospital, ElSharqia, Egypt to participate in this study. Their ages were ranged from 45-55 years old. Their body mass index (BMI) was ranged from 25-30 kg/m2. They were suffering from moderate to severe hot flashes assessed by Hot Flashes Questionnaire. They were suffering from sleep disturbances >5 assessed by self-reporting Pittsburgh sleep quality index. They were divided into two equal groups in number; Group A which consisted of twenty-seven postmenopausal women suffering from sleep disturbances and hot flashes. They were treated by foot reflexology for 15 minutes, 3 sessions per week for 6 weeks. Group B which consisted of twenty-seven postmenopausal women suffering from sleep disturbances and hot flashes. They were treated by acupressure treatment sessions for 21 minutes, 3 sessions per week for 6 weeks. Assessment: Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to assess sleep quality for all postmenopausal women in both groups (A&B) before and after treatment. Hot Flashes Questionnaire was used to assess the severity of hot flashes for all women in both groups (A&B) before and after treatment. Results: Results of this study found that; within groups; there was significant decrease in Pitttsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Hot Flashes Questionnaire in both groups A and B post treatment. Between groups; pre treatment, there was no significant difference between both groups A and B in Pitttsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Hot Flashes Questionnaire. While, post treatment, there was significant difference between both groups A and B in Pitttsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Hot Flashes Questionnaire with favour of group B. Conclusion: Both acupressure, and foot reflexology were effective therapeutic modality for management of postmenopausal women with superior to acupressure for gained improvements in sleep quality, and severity of hot flashes among postmenopausal women. |

| Summary, etc. | الهدف من الدراسة: تهدف الدراسة إلي تقييم تأثير الريفليكسولوجي مقابل الضغط الوخزي على اضطرابات النوم ونوبات الهبات الساخنة لدي السيدات بعد انقطاع الطمث. المشاركات بالدراسة: أجريت الدراسة علي أربعة وخمسين سيدة بعد انقطاع الطمث تعانين من اضطرابات النوم والهبات الساخنة، تم اختيارهن من العيادات الخارجية- لقسم النساء والتوليد- مستشفي ديرب نجم المركزي- الشرقية- مصر. تم تشخيصهن سريرياً بواسطة مؤشر بيتسبرغ لتقييم جودة النوم >٥. تراوحت أعمارهن بين ٤٥ و٥٥ عامًا، وكان مؤشر كتلة الجسم لديهن بين ٢٥-٣٠ كجم/م². تم تقسيمهمن عشوائياً لمجموعتين متساويتين؛ المجموعة (أ) تكونت من ٢٧ سيدة بفترة بعد انقطاع الطمث تعانين من اضطرابات النوم والهبات الساخنة، تلقين العلاج بالريفليكسولوجي لمدة ١٥ دقيقة، ٣جلسات إسبوعياً، لمدة ٦ أسابيع. بينما المجموعة (ب) تكونت من ٢٧ سيدة بفترة بعد انقطاع الطمث تعانين من اضطرابات النوم والهبات الساخنة، تلقين العلاج بالضغط الوخزي لمدة ٢١ دقيقة، ٣جلسات إسبوعياً، لمدة ٦ أسابيع. التقييم الإكلينيكي: تم تقييم جودة نوم المشاركات بواسطة استبيان مؤشر بيتسبرغ لجودة النوم، وكذا حدة الهبات الساخنة بواسطة استبيان الهبات الساخنة قبل وبعد إنقضاء مدة الدراسة التي إمتدت لستة أسابيع متتالية. النتيجة: كان هناك انخفاضاً ذا دلالة احصائيه فى كلا من مؤشر بيتسبرغ لجودة النوم وكذلك مؤشر حدة الهبات الساخنة بعد إنقضاء مدة الدراسة. كما تبين عدم وجود إختلافات ذات دلالة إحصائية قبل البدء بالدراسة بين المجموعتين. هذا وتبين وجود إختلافات ذات دلالة إحصائية بين مجموعتي الدراسة بعد إنقضاء مدة الدراسة لصالح المجموعة (ب). الخلاصة: كلا من الضغط الوخزي والريفليكسولوجي ذا كفاءة علاجية لعلاج اضطرابات النوم ونوبات الهبات الساخنة المصاحبة لدي السيدات بعد انقطاع الطمث مع تبين أفضليه أعلي للضغط الوخزي علي كلا من اضطرابات النوم وحدة الهبات الساخنة. |
