| Summary, etc. | Aim of the study: to evaluate the effect of Botox injection in anterior belly of digastric muscle <br/>for reducing the relapse after mandibular advancement orthognathic surgery . <br/>Methodology: A total of 24 patients indicated for mandibular advancement bi-maxillary <br/>orthognathic surgery randomly assigned to 2 equal parallel groups; 12 patients were injected by <br/>Botulinum toxin type A before surgery (Intervention group) and 12 patients treated without <br/>injection (Control group). The relapse was evaluated by the differences in cephalometric <br/>variables at the time points of 1 week and 6 month postoperatively. The evaluated cephalometric <br/>variables are 3 angular measurement (SNB), (ANB), (ArGo-SN) and 2 linear measurements <br/>(Pog and B point) in relation to Frankfort Horizontal and coronal planes on CBCT image. <br/> Results: There was statistically significant difference between the Botox and control group in <br/>Pg/coronal horizontal measurement where Botox group showed statistically significant lower <br/>increase (lower relapse) in Pg/coronal measurement than Control group. In comparison between <br/>the two group there was no statistically significant difference in B and Pg in relation to FH <br/>plane, B point in relation to coronal plane and in all angular measurements; SNB, ANB and Ar-<br/>Go/SN. <br/>Conclusion: Botulinum toxin type A injection into the anterior belly of the digastric muscle is an <br/>easy and effective approach to decrease relapse following mandibular advancement <br/>orthognathic surgery. |

| Summary, etc. | هدف الدراسة: تقييم تأثير حقن البوتوكس في البطن الأمامي للعضلة ذات البطنين<br/>للحد من الانتكاس بعد جراحة تقويم الفكين لتقديم الفك السفلي.<br/>المنهجية: تم اختيار 24 مريضًا مرشحًا لجراحة تقويم الفكين لتقديم الفك السفلي<br/>وتم توزيعهم عشوائيًا إلى مجموعتين متوازيتين متساويتين؛ 12 مريضًا تم حقنهم بـ<br/>توكسين البوتولينوم من النوع أ قبل الجراحة (مجموعة التدخل) و12 مريضًا لم يتلقوا أي حقن<br/>(مجموعة التحكم). تم تقييم الانتكاس من خلال الاختلافات في المتغيرات السيفالومترية<br/>عند نقطتين زمنيتين بعد أسبوع واحد وستة أشهر من الجراحة. المتغيرات السيفالومترية التي تم تقييمها<br/>هي 3 قياسات زاوية (SNB)، (ANB)، (ArGo-SN) وقياسان خطيان<br/>(Pog ونقطة B) بالنسبة إلى المستويين الأفقي والإكليلي لفرانكفورت على صورة CBCT. النتائج: وُجد فرقٌ ذو دلالة إحصائية بين مجموعة البوتوكس والمجموعة الضابطة في قياس Pg/الأفقي التاجي، حيث أظهرت مجموعة البوتوكس انخفاضًا ذا دلالة إحصائية في الزيادة (انخفاض الانتكاس) في قياس Pg/الأفقي التاجي مقارنةً بالمجموعة الضابطة. وبالمقارنة بين المجموعتين، لم يُلاحظ فرقٌ ذو دلالة إحصائية في B وPg بالنسبة إلى مستوى FH، ولا في النقطة B بالنسبة إلى المستوى التاجي، ولا في جميع القياسات الزاوية؛ SNB وANB وAr-Go/SN.<br/>الخلاصة: يُعد حقن توكسين البوتولينوم من النوع A في البطن الأمامي للعضلة ذات البطنين طريقةً سهلةً وفعالةً لتقليل الانتكاس بعد جراحة تقويم الفك السفلي. |
